What Our Expert Scouts Say

November 03, 2012

Something of a freak hybrid, this downtown eatery and bar is the result of a union between an Irishman and a Texan, and no, there is no punchline. There is, however, a lot of good Irish beer, stout, and whiskey, and a menu filled with southern grub like fried chicken and blackened catfish.

Great service. We remember bkb3 at Souths. They were advised that the nachos appetizer was more than enough food for the two of them, yet they decided to order a second course of a shared caesar salad. The nachos are one of our most popular dishes. They are giant. After eating the nachos the two ladies sent their salad back. Had the ladies not been so belligerent in their demands, things could have played out very differently. My partner offered to comp their round of drinks to which they replied "f**k you. Take the salad off of our tab or enjoy our review on Citysearch."

We take customer service very seriously, but this was an unusual situation, an impossible situation. They won't be missed. It's a shame.

The owner is rude and insulting!!!. Avoid this place at all costs, unless you like being treated like dirt while you eat your dinner. not recommended

Not so great. The place feels really cozy with the brick walls and the candlelight but the tables are pretty much packed together without a lot of room to move. When it comes to the food, it is lacking. The chicken was too dry and everything we ordered was pretty bland. I liked the sauce that came with the steak but that was the only reason I was able to finish the meal at all. Everything needs more flavor. Good place to have a drink and talk but the food is not so great.
