I brought two dresses to be altered. One needed some simple nipping and tucking, but the other needed to be virtually reconstructed across the shoulders (and it was a well-made dress to begin with, so the work was not easy). I'll start with the bad: The dress that needed simple work done seemed to have been forgotten and when I went to pick it up, I was told that it wasn't even started. They offered to get it done in just a few hours, however, I had some time before I needed it so I said it could wait. The bigger problem, however, was the price. I felt a bit overcharged for the simple work on the first dress but I was absolutely SHOCKED at how expensive the quote was for the second dress (even with the difficulty level, it was more than the dress itself). Now the good: The dress that needed the reconstruction was done perfectly and fit me very well when it was complete. It was beautifully sewn and looked like it was made just for me. The woman was very careful to make sure that I was happy with it before making any cuts and I was very pleased with the outcome. She also did the work in less than a week for a wedding I have this weekend, so the speed of service was remarkable. Overall: If I had more time, I probably would have shopped around for a better price, but I don't know if I would have found someone who would have done better work. It may have been a blessing that I needed this dress so quickly in terms of the outcome, though not for my wallet.

Apparently John no longer works here. When I came in a woman came in before me and was disappointed to discover that he had retired. The previous review that talked about a "second skin" bridesmaid dress at a reasonable price was the OPPOSITE of my experience. They charged me half as much as the dress itself had cost (and it was EXPENSIVE!) to do alterations and gave me a date 3 weeks in the future. When I came three weeks later to pick it up it was still in the sewing machine! I waited for an hour and a half and they said it was done, and they hadn't pressed it or even sewn the straps on. Ridiculous. It is still too big.
Pros: they have a sewing machine
Cons: they do not use it well
