Editorial Review for Larry Lawrence – by Karen Hudes
The Scene
A slim gray hallway leads passers-by to a heavy wooden door with an impressive, lofty barroom on the other side. Exposed-brick walls and solid woodwork distinguish the lofty space, which has a warm, golden look courtesy of tiny candles. On the ground level, smoothly carved bar stools and reclining wooden booths mark the perimeter, leaving plenty of floor space for bigger crowds. Get there early to grab the more secluded nook in the rear. Late arrivers compete for seats with a flurry of the area's young, hip clientele.
The Draw
The bar's most alluring innovation is its glass-walled outdoor smoking area, on view from the floor below. The small section, decorated with potted plants, opens to the sky. Mixed drinks are nicely and cheaply done--with specialty cocktails on the way--and the small selection of red wines by the glass includes a luscious Rioja.

I agree with the last review. My friends and I visited Larry Lawerence bar last night and could not believe how incredibly rude, disrespectful and condesending the bartender was to my party. To top it off, it was in front of the owner which leads me to believe that this in an acceptable form of behavior towards the customers. Save your time and money and head elsewhere because there are tons of other bars in the Williamsburg area where they will treat you with respect!!
Pros: nada
Cons: the staff and owner of the joint

I must say I tried giving this joint multiple chances over the last year or so. I use to love it, and even after I moved to Fort Greene I would still make the trip to enjoy it. But, now the vibe and energy of the place is that of a members only mens social club. Aside from the fact that I think they have been playing the same music for the last 3 years, the staff is by large the rudest in years. Although it does have a great smoking area (it's only saving grace) I would not recommend even my ex boyfriends go here. I have too much respect for even people I loathe.
Pros: Outdoor Smoking Area
Cons: The place in general
