Great Cafe. Mud is my favorite coffee shop in NYC. I use it as my creative escape to write, brainstorm or otherwise find inspiration. I also like to hang here with friends and causal business breakfasts.

The mobile coffee trucks get a stationary flagship cafe in the East Village.. In Short
A charming, rustic-in-the-city vibe runs through both the organic menu and the earthy décor at this fine East Village café. You may recall having seen bright orange "Mudtrucks" parked around the neighborhood before, serving an alternative brew to Starbucks. A quirky refuge from the bustle outside, the café caters to chatting latte sippers, diligent laptop workers and casual diners alike. The coffee is distinct and tasty-try the Mud, the house special-and the soups, salads, and sandwiches are thoughtfully prpared and far fresher than garden variety coffee shop fare.

Hits: If you're a fan of fresh food and coffee, there's little to complain about at Mudspot--charming, relaxed, fun and a little off-the-wall.

Misses: None, unless you are absolutely adamant your coffee come from a truck.

awful counter service. though the waitresses are very sweet, sit at their tables if you want service, the counter help, specifically this one manager type guy is a joke. all attitude, and apparently he determines if you're worthy of being waited on. too much good coffee and great service elsewhere. heard this spot used to be cool, next.

Cozy place. Best during weekdays. First thing's first: GREAT coffee (of course that is subjective). The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. Overall, the service is good, but when they are busy, the service might not be as friendly on occasion (human nature I suppose). Nice place to retreat to--especially during the weekdays--and sort out your thoughts and/or work etc...

good coffee, spottty service. Mudspot is a good spot for quality coffee, though I think they lag behind other coffee spots slightly because the service can be uneven. Tried to go once for food, but after being seated my girl and I waited 10-15 minutes without so much as a "hello" from the waitress so we left. We usually grab a coffee on the weekends, but I will not go in if I see certain people making the coffee. I think they need to train the baristas properly, which is strange because in the Mud trucks they are pretty good. I order a mocha, which is pretty basic and the girl asked me what I wanted in it and I said "nothing." So she snottily said, "nothing, not even milk?" OK, it's a mocha, with Milk, epsresso, and chocolate. That combo has never changed in the 100s of coffee places I have been to. This is not good sign. And then she hands me some drink that was not what I orderd. And this has happend before here, grumpy service and giving me the wrong order. I think I'll go to Joe next time. The coffee is better and they get more order right.

my fovorite spot. the mudstruckers really pulled it off...this is the greatest lil hang out in nyc...mud is still the best, the music is always rockin', the service beautiful and the decor 60ies mixed with old school elements...they have a backyard...their brunches on the weekends are awesome..they do a sushi night on thursdays and the rest of the time mudspot is kickin' out delicious breakfast lunches and dinners...i love it...check out the seasonal naked ladies party...girls only!

Cozy Cool. My experiences at the mudspot are never anything short of fantastic. Whether popping in for a quick cup of coffee, or hanging around with a glass of wine and a hearty bowl of soup, the friendly staff always make you feel at home. The music selection is eclectic and enjoyable. Overall this is simply a great place to hang out.
