The Scene – A long, dim hallway transports diners to the bar, where beveled mirrors and embossed leather banquettes provide a dash of retro glam. But it's in the dining room, where confident cooks move about the showcase kitchen, and seamless service attends to the most mundane necessities, that the restaurant's overall excellence is fully expressed. – – The Food – Chef Gray Kunz's hearty country French fare, with its unexpected, intriguing spicing, is simply excellent. He wows with vitello tonnato, a tuna aioli spread over thinly sliced raw veal, and with fresh…
Good food but way overpriced

You are paying for the view and the location. Food was good, we had the risotto and braised ribs but was overpriced--the appetizer portion of the risotto was $27 (ala carte), and the 3-course price fixe was $65. We passed on the drinks as we felt that $20 should buy a bottle of wine, not a glass. We had a good view of the kitchen and the trees in Columbus Circle. Service was so-so, it was hard to get a waiter's attention when we needed to. Restrooms lacked paper towels.

Very good german/austrian influenced food with a very cool decor and good service. I have been there a couple of times and every time walk away completely satisfied.
- Pros: Food, ambience
Elegant and Delightful

Being from Tx and enjoying our first night in NYC we met friends (who live in NYC) after a show for a late dinner at Cafe Gray. The restaurant is tucked away in the Time Warner building as soon as you enter you forget that you passed numerous retail stores to find this place. It was very beautiful inside, relaxing and luxorious at the same time. We had no problems with Service, it was all timely and done with class. Our server's only fault was that he wasn't good about suggesting "specific" dishes, in fact he more or less would list every entree or dessert on the list when you asked him what was good. We all enjoyed our 1st and 2nd courses, I myself loved the Roasted corn ravioli, fabulous! I also had the short rib which was nice, the flavor was very fitting for fall. Our sommelier was attentive and we closed the place down. Enjoyed the ambiance as well as the fare.
- Pros: Ambience
- Cons: High Priced
