The Scene
With teak pagodas, low golden lighting and a dramatic staircase carved into the center of the room leading down to the equally stylish bar, Jean-Georges Vongerichten has redefined exotic dining. The crowd--a sexy, well-appointed mix of downtowners, moneyed execs and occasional celebrity--is worthy of a wandering eye. Expert servers pad through the various dining areas with ease and grace.

The Food
It's billed as "Asian street food," but since the menu is a creative collaboration between expert chefs Vongerichten and Gray Kunz, dishes show unmistakable finesse. Shaved tuna and small tapioca balls--a playful substitute for roe--float in an addictive, tart-smooth pool of coconut water and kaffir lime juice. Remarkably tender short ribs are served with a sweet-spicy topping of chilies and onion. Even the green curry is nicely balanced and lush. For dessert, choose the ephemeral-yet-potent Vietnamese coffee tart partnered with condensed milk ice cream.

If you want real Asian or Indian food there are plenty places in the city where you do not have to wait and wait and wait. This place is a tourist trap for those who are not accustomed to eating some of these dishes. The food all together was poor; try some real samosas and pork vindaloo and than come back to this place and you will know what I am talking about.. Fusion??? If that is the name they want to hide under for serving poor representation of a mix of several cultures food, ok. There is a huge staff of people working, running around in orange suits like chickens with their heads off; with all this staff you would think that you can possibly get another cocktail at your table within a decent time frame. No not even that is possible. Save your money and your time.

The decor is great. Always fun people watching, but the food and service are all over the place. Still fun though.
