In Short
Every aspect of this West Village eatery and hangout was devised by owner Ken Friedman with a particular aesthetic and concept in mind. The array of pig paraphernalia displayed in every available nook, for example, is the result of his longstanding collection. The handpicked staff acts like a clique of cool, approachable friends while working to helm the restaurant's upper and lower levels, both perpetually packed. Waiters in swine-themed shirts balance plates of chef April Bloomfield's specialties, like the juicy burger served with shoestring fries and the notorious gnudi, a kind of ricotta dumpling served in brown butter with crispy sage. Unfortunately, few are privy to the secret of the third floor, where private parties are thrown regularly by celebrities and in-the-know types.

Nice bar upstairs but that's pretty much it. Some preppy girls like to haul all the way from the UES to check this place and it's funny to watch. Some are pretty beautiful so it makes the bar pretty pleasant. I never had dinner here because I don't bend over to over rated places where you need to wait hours - or - submit yourself to a nose browning session to the staff to get upgraded on the list. Still, I recommend you try it because I've heard the food is good and I did try few appetizers once (they were amazing). Bar downstairs is packed with bobo (bourgeois boheme) and euro-trash people, avoid it.

Went out to dinner here with a few friends and objectively, each item of food was seriously overly salted. From the squid stew to the shoe string fries, to the skirt steak and the burnt vegetables. It's was almost like they were trying to get people to order more drinks. I don't generally write reviews, but this was too much.
