The Scene – The 12,000-foot franchise, with its countrified, distressed-wood bar, framed "Gump"-isms and stellar view of Times Square from its tourist-trafficked tables upstairs, is chock-full of movie memorabilia. Framed still images from the film line the walls, and Depression-era props perch on shelves. Smiling servers quiz diners with movie trivia, but forget to fill their water glasses. – – The Food – Popcorn shrimp, peel-and-eat shrimp, shrimp po' boys--practically every Southern-style preparation Bubba ever conceived is available here, in huge portions for not…

The Extras:
The fashion torch has been passed from the Hard Rock Cafe: Bubba Gump T-shirts, sweats, hats, etc. are available at the store.
Know Before You Go:
Fruity cocktails and desserts (like a chocolate chip cookie baked and served in a cast-iron pan) are pictured on pass-around paddle menus.

  1. Nice view of Times Square
  2. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was good (the appetizer sampler was great) and the atmosphere was really cheerful without being cheesy.
  3. Food was fab and the atmosphere was nice.
  4. The atmosphere is great and fun!
  5. Great view, fun atmosphere, decent food
  6. fun, noisy, great views of times square
  7. The food was good (especialy the desserts) the ambience was terrific.
  8. You felt like you were able to get away from it all even though you have an excellent view of times square.
  9. Very nice, attentive staff who make it a fun experience.
  10. We had a wonderful table that was right next to the glass window/wall, which provides an incredible view of Times Square, since it is on the 2nd level.
  11. It's fun though, the waiters are friendly, the clam chowder is pretty good, it's mild, like new england clam chowder is, the crab cakes are pretty good, the fish and chips are yummy, the drinks are expensive, as are all drinks in times square area.
  12. But the food was good, the wait staff made it fun.
  13. If youre out & about in Times Square late in the evening and get hungry, this is a good place to go and have a good meal while enjoying the view of Times Square all lit up at night.
  14. The decor is hokey and the ambience is like dining at an amusement park, but it's spacious and the excellent view of Times Square from this decidedly un-New York establishment makes for a pleasantly surreal experience.
  15. typical Bubba Gump, this location has one really nice thing going for it: a fantastic view of Times Square.
  16. The ambiance was great after a long day in the city.

  1. The seafood was delicious, and the drinks were excellent!
  2. Overall, I recommend this to anyone looking for a party and at a reasonable cost and something different than the usual open bar deals people get.

  1. My boyfriend is a big spender so the prices didn't bother us any.
  2. There were a couple of less expensive entrees (Fish 'n' Chips for about $12) but most entrees were in the neighborhood of $18.

  7. One last note -- they push the expensive drinks pretty hard, even kids drinks, so just be firm if you don't expensive drinks.
  8. They have great prices.

  13. It may be a bit pricey, but sharing can solve that problem since the portions are huge!
  14. That said, my $18 platter was filling, as was my father's Shrimp Po Boy (which was worth its $11).
  15. The theme is cute if you like Forest Gump and the service is pretty friendly, but for the price ($15-20 per dish) you can get much better food.

Souther Fried Chicken rocks!

by NYbaby87

I've been there 5 or 6 times with friends/family. And every time we go there's a wait line downstairs. At some point we get stuck having to wait on the stairs... The Souther Fried Chicken is one of the best I've had in NY. The so called "cocktails" are mostly cheap juice with lots of ice or colored water with lots of sugar. One good thing (if you manage to get a table by the window) is the view of Times Square. It's usually noisy and it seems like the staff sings happy b-day to someone every 7-8 minutes. However, I like their ordering system with the two signs you can flip saying "run" and "stop."

  • Pros: big portions, somewhat fast service, nice view
  • Cons: noisy, bad cocktails, wait line

Love Forrest Love

by aerosync504

I love the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. I have eaten at their Times Square Location, Oralndo, FL location and their Hawaii location. I've loved every one. In the NY one we sat immediately and the waitress was attentive and interactive.l I had the bucket of boat trash. Loved it! I'm sure it's frozen seafood but it was very filling and very entertaining.

  • Pros: Decor is great for movie lovers/Food was good/Service was excellent
  • Cons: Kinda pricey
