There's a bit of a boys' club feeling about the posh space. A glass-bead chandelier lights up the dramatic main room, which is accented by dark, polished wood on all sides and sprawling banquette seating. At the back, a pyramid-like staircase leads to a soundproof, glassed-in, second-floor lounge overlooking the vaulted main room. Marquee, designed with high-class entertaining in mind, has small touches that elevate it over other lounges, like drawers tucked underneath banquettes for personal storage. However, once the evening heats up, nobody seems to notice the subtleties; instead, patrons…

Refreshing

by CSMobileUser2 at Citysearch

I have to say, I'd heard nightmare stories about getting in to Marquee from friends for ages and I was a bit nervous when my friend mentioned he was hoilding a small get toggether there a week ago.

I showed up and it was really busy outside. The door man (looked like Lex Luthor) and very handsome caught my eye and asked if he could help me with anything.

I was waiting for the kicker, "are you on a list" or "it's reservations only" but he asked me if I was alone and welcomed me in.

Oh my God! How easy was that. I guess it depends on whether I had brought my boyfriend with me or if I was unnatractive but I was pleasantly surpised by the was I treated and would go back any night if he Lex was working.

Not Worth the Hype

by VictoriaFana at Citysearch

I went on a Saturday night with out-of-town friends. We had a reserved table upstairs. The crowd was anything but glamorous. If anything they were wannabe celebutards. The music was beyond anything digestible. You can get the same tunes from Hot 97 or Z100, to name a few. Absolutely nothing original from both DJ's; actually, nothing original about anyone there. The place is extremely overrated!!!! Over $1000 spent and I would have preferred to Club Shelter, pay $20 and truly dance my butt off to the music played by a "REAL" DJ Timmy Regisford, instead of what I subjected by poor ears to for 3 hours. Now I know for certain that if a brainless celebrity is loving the place - then it's definitely not worth the effort.

  • Cons: The Music SUCKED!!!!!
