Do not get keys made here. When I went to get my keys copied there was a man there asking to have his keys fixed because they did not work. When I returned again because my key didn't work, there was another frustrated customer having her keys fixed. I was obviously concerned about having my key work the 2nd time so I looked at the keys and asked the man who worked there if it mattered if they didn't match exactly. He looked me in the eye and said he guaranteed my key would work. He said I should trust him, he has 30 years of experience. Lo and behold my key did not work. Luckily after returning for the 3rd time they quickly and sheepishly gave me a refund.

My favorite local hardware store. I've been going here for years. Used to be only hardcore hardware guys worked there, now there's a few clerk types also, but they're still the most knowledgeable store. You can actually ask them how to do something and they'll tell you what you need, as opposed to other stores like the one across the street, where they might carry what you want, they might even know where it is, but they won't know how to use it.

It's a regular hardware store, they don't sell furnishings or dishes, just the stuff to do the job. They have the same drawback as other stores in Manhattan--their inventory is not vast, but at least they can tell you what they need.
