Best plumber in town. These guys are the best. Do any amount of research and you'll see they know what they're doing and what they're talking about. Quality job every time I used them, on time, and always professional and up front with me. Gateway is the best in the city, period. Don't pay less for a job you'll need fixed in a year's time.
Bad Experience. I would recommend people to look elsewhere. The work was shoddy and they completely overcharge. They will say one thing and do another. Avoid at all costs.
If you want these comments to be taken as a valid review by an actual customer and not a competitor, I suggest you make some specific reference to your job or identity in some way or contact our office directly.
Gateway Plumbing & Heating takes customer service and satisfaction very seriously and makes every reasonable effort to see that our our clients are satisfied with our services.
Best Plumbing & Heating Company in NYC.
I own a townhouse in Manhattan and have used various plumbing and heating services over the years.
I tried several companies before Gateway. Most were fine but always lacking in some way or other.
I started using Gateway a few years ago and they are far superior to every other company I have used.
The receptionist is exceedingly polite and friendly.
They arrive quickly and ON SCHEDULE.
I've dealt with several different people at Gateway and ALL of them have been personable, intelligent, attentive, articulate and a pleasure to work with. They have always quickly figured out exactly what needs to be done.
I would give them six stars if I could.
the best in the city. I've used several different heating service companies over the years for recurring problems with the boiler/heating system in my home in Manhattan. The last time, a friend suggested that I call Gateway. I now have an annual service agreement with them, and have not had any problems with my boiler since. They are friendly, courteous, and come every fall to service my home's heating system before winter hits. I recently also had a plumbing problem, and they were there within an hour to fix it--at my preferred customer rate.
Professional and knowledgeable.
Gateway is a great example of what any service company should strive to be. Besides providing the most professional, knowledgeable plumbing and heating service I have ever experienced, they post articles and videos on forums online that show people how to take better care of their homes and avoid breakdowns.
How many companies do you know that would willingly provide advice to potential future customers at the expense of possibly servicing them in the future? That's customer service!
Gateway Plumbing will rip you off!. Do not use Gateway Plumbing - they will take advantage of you! Gateway Plumbing has this policy where they charge you 60 dollars for an estimate, plus 19 dollar travel fee, plus 125 dollar deposit on the future repairs all over the phone via credit card. If you don't like the estimate they give, you lose the deposit on future repairs. This is an absolutely unfair policy - what business charges you for an estimate and if you don't like it, still takes your money for services you did not receive. The only service I received was an estimate which at 60 bucks plus 19 for travel is higher than most plumbers. The plumber was in my home for less than ten minutes and most of the time was spent writing the estimate (took him less than a minute to look at the problem and come to a conclusion of what to do - he didn't even lift a tool). Gateway Plumbing did explain their policy to me before coming out but an unfair policy is still an unfair policy regardless of whether or not the buyer was informed. Gateway Plumbing is being operated by people who don't know what good customer service is. Again - don't use Gateway Plumbing!
Excellent, Quick and Fair!. Called Sunday evening about clogged kitchen sink and I was told someone would be at my apartment between 8:30-9:15am. At 8:45am plumber arrived, he took a look at the problem and gave me a fair price before he started the job. He took care of the problem quickly & efficiently. And on top of everything he was such a nice guy! I will always call these guys for any future problem! (If you can, request Jose, he was wonderful to work with!)
Very Nice... and totally overcharges. I had a leaky water filter under the sink, and the first time around they said I needed to replace the whole thing, and not just the leaky tube. I didn't know better and paid for the labor and a new water filter. 8 months later, same water tube was leaking and called them again -- they changed the washer and then charged $200+ dollars. Whole thing took under 10 minutes, and even with an hourly rate or a fixed fee that's robbery. After the whole thing, felt like they scammed me twice over. Had trusted the other reviews (and reason why I paid the first time), but now not so sure.
They don't service Manhattan highrise??? Huh?.
Doing a kitchen renovation and needed new branch lines, sink, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and gas stove hooked up.
The Story -
First off I will say that the woman who answered the phone was nice and cordial...no complaints.
I live off of central park near Lincoln Center in a doorman high rise building. They told me that my building is considered commercial and not residential. HUH??? Also that my building probably requires me to use their plumber. That is not true. My building lets me use whoever I want if they have insurance. I find it very strange that they are located in Manhattan, but don't do Manhattan apartments. No other plumber in this city has ever given me that as a reasoning. So while they were nice I just thought it was weird.
