Avoid When Crowded. It can be so crowded in here that a little body rubbing is inevitable, especially at the bar. There is no denying the cheap drink prices, as the place tends to attract a lot of random folks who are looking for a good time at night. The bartenders and bouncers were extraordinarily nice, which makes this a destination worth heading to -- early in the night that is.

Great place!. I had my birthday party at Onyx (about 30 people). The service is great - everyone was very accommodating. It was a fun, low key place. The music was good and overall, my experience was very positive. There was no problems for people getting in. You should definitely check it out!

Great for a party. I threw a party here the other weekend and couldn't have been happier. Jeff was so great when I called and reserved half of the lounge for us (about 25 people). People got there before me and had no problem getting back there, and the cocktail waitress as well as the bartenders behind the bar were great. It's a small place and got pretty crowded, but was never insanely packed. Drinks were reasonable and overall a great time!

Best Lounge in the Village. There is something for everyone here. Plasma screen TVs with the game on or an extensive cocktail menu with drinks like "sleeping with the enemy" a fruity champagne drink. The food menu rivals that of a nice resturant's. I had a great time with my girls on Wednesdays when it was happy hour all night long.

Great food & drinks. You can't go wrong with Onyx. I've had numerous parties there - they've always gone without a hitch because of the staff. I recommend the scallion pancakes and Sleeping With The Enemy.

The Best of Both Worlds. This is a perfect place for when half of your friends want to go to a low-key pub and the other half want to go to a club/high-end lounge. The decor is phenomenal, but the attitude is unpretentious. This has become one of my favorite places to hang out in the city - plus the drinks are reasonable and the food is great.

A classy place for first dates and long-time loves..
The Scene
Don't be fooled by its name; the interior of Onyx is almost entirely blue. The walls of this spacious West Village nightspot are the azure of a moonless night sky, and blue couches adorned with a hypnotic spiral pattern greet bargoers at every turn. The friendly atmosphere and warm, please-come-again vibe from the staff make the mood of the place anything but blue.
The Draw
A 20-something crowd packs both the front of the bar and the airy separate lounge. Scores of sofas and tiny tables that can serve as seating in a pinch mean that no one has to stand for too long. Madonna tunes from the lingerie-on-the-outside era and other '80s artists blare continuously from strategically spaced speakers as hungry patrons partake of such tasty fare as Asian-flavored flank steak and coconut shrimp from the full menu.

Hot Spot. Add this to your to do list, you must check this place out. They have a friendly, exceptionally good looking staff and an even better looking crowd. Music is fun and the atmosphere is intriguing, not to mention the food which is in a catagory of its own. Definitely, not your typical bar food.
