Don't give them your credit/debit card!

by shannonl1242338528

DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD!

I bought my brother a giftcard in December and, not only did the spa refuse to accept it once he got there, but they then put a completely unauthorized charge on my card for $270. That's twice the original amount--which they also charged--making it three times the amount in total. [P.S. Did I mention I'm in Borneo and that the card was flagged with fraud since I can't be in New York and Borneo at the same time?]

I called multiple times to clear it up--no answer. I emailed twice--no reply. I posted a review on their site with a request for them to email---nothing.

My brother and I called repeatedly for over two days, he finally managed to get through and--after a struggle--they promised to refund my card.

Save yourself the trouble--if you go, pay in cash!

Awesome Massage

by wowme2008

Fabulous massage!! Love the ambience. The massage therapist was really great. Perfect amount of pressure. Great technique. Didn't talk when I didn't want to. I loved it, and fell asleep halfway through. I was so relaxed afterward. I love the warm bean pillow too.....I will come back here again and again!!

Not as great as I expected

by evybond

My friend bought me a gift of facial and massage. I was so excited to have an excuse to branch out and try something new. I have been going to bliss and mario badescu for the longest time and love their treatments, but always wanted to try something new. How unfortunate. Everyone raves about the classes and I desperately hoped spa would meet those standards. Nope. My massage technician was very pleasant and professional, but the massage didn't flow smoothly and I asked for lower back focused on and got upper. But overall she was ok and I did feel a bit relaxed. My facial was horrible. The woman was very pushy for me to purchase treatments and products, each contradicting her previous suggestion. I know my skin and get facials almost every 4 months. It was promising when she started extracting, but she only covered smallest area of the face leaving a ton of blackheads. Gosh. And the worst part, the next day my skin broke out in a rash. I am not making this up, tiny red bumps all over my face, my skin was very itchy. I was very upset. I would never go back.

Tried Manicure-Pedicure

by ZahraJam

I take Yin Yoga classes at Exhale both Central Park South and Madison Street locations. I tried the mani-pedi at the central park south location in April 2010. I was quiet disappointed at the products used at Exhale. The technician was fine but having tried mani-pedi at different locations in NYC, the experience was average. I wouldnt try any spa service at this location. It was too cramped and there was no you could relax.

  • Pros: good technician
  • Cons: too pricey, cramped, and not worth it.

still in shock...

by ams1

I went to exhale for a relaxing and productive facial...Unfortunately the relaxing part didn't come until it was over and I had cup of tea in the lounge and used a warming neck pillow...Juliet was very sweet and knowledgeable, but her technique was rough and jerky to say the least. I appreciated her strength during the massage part of the facial, but there was no fludity throughout the whole experience and it seemed like whenever she stopped doing something she was futzing around making lots of noise & banging into things. On one hand during the extraction part of the facial I was thinking, this is great she is really getting in there and cleaning out all of my pores..and then I started freaking out because of the force she was using...I was actually concerned that she'd break my nose or my cheek! I've had plenty of facials with extractions before, but I've never been fearful that I'd leave with permanent damage! I literally was too petrified to say something during the extractions...I just wanted it to be over! I might consider going back to exhale for a facial with a different aesthetician because I did enjoy the robes, the tea, the neck pillows...but it was a little loud in the lounge and in the facial room itself...It hasn't been long enough since the facial for me to report on any difference in my skin...I am just hoping the pain & fear was worth it!

  • Pros: deeeeeeep cleansing
  • Cons: not relaxing
