Editorial Review for Stone Rose Lounge – by Karen Hudes
The Scene
Can an entranceway filled with ultra-bright mall lighting set the mood for a glamorous night out? Hotel-bar titan Rande Gerber is betting on it with his expansive lounge on the fourth floor of Columbus Circle's upscale Time Warner Center. Once inside, the lights are low, yet the energy remains as the noise of the enormous after-work crowd bounces off marble floors and glass walls. Extra-friendly servers do their part to smooth out the vibe.
The Draw
A sweeping view of Central Park and Broadway is the most impressive design element in a room full of square, lobby-ish chairs and banquettes. Among the high-priced martinis, the signature Stone Rose earns its title, elegantly balancing Woodford Reserve bourbon with the mellow tartness of Grand Marnier, white-cranberry juice, sour mix and simple syrup. Pair it with a silken tuna wasabi crisp for maximum sexiness.

I went to Stone Rose a few weeks ago with a handful of friends to celebrate my birthday. I called ahead of time to make a reservation. The girl on the phone seemed a bit spacey, she first said they were booked but then told me we could have a table if we left by a certain time, which was fine because we were planning on going to a club afterwards. Upon arrival, we checked our coats (free coat check) and were taken to the couch area next to the large windows that was reserved for us. The bar area was very crowded, many beautiful woman, but can't say the same for the guys. My friends and I ordered appitizers, chicken fingers were really great, a bottle of wine and cocktails. The waitress was attentive, refilled wine glasses, although she wasn't that good a pouring it. We sat on the couches, enjoyed the view and talked to ourselves as we were separated from the rest of the walk-in crowd. There was a wait for the bathroom as there are only two stalls. Drinks were the usual pricey ones you get at most upscale lounges. Good place to go with friends if you like lounges, not so sure if it's a good place to meet people, but like I said, bar area was crowded but didn't see any cute guys.
Pros: Reserved areas to talk to friends
Cons: Seperated crowd areas

I'm not sure why the reviewers of this place, the Stone ROse are so bent on calling each other names and giving the other a hard time about their opinions. Opinions are what makes us different. Im going there tonight so will write my review after, right now I guess it a rating of average since I have'nt experienced it yet. But wow, reviewers can be pretty mean! New YOrk city , dont you just adore its people!
