Phenomenal neighborhood restaurant – Went here for the first time two weeks ago. Have been back there twice since. Fell in love with the restaurant, the food and the experience. Marcello, the owner, comes out to make sure you're feeling welcome and are aware of the menu and the specials. If you talk to him a while, you'll hear that the beautiful pictures on the wall are all of his family from the 40s on in Argentina. Then you'll get to the food, which features outstanding dishes from his grandmother's (Nina) recipe book.
Don't let the construction on 2nd Ave stop you from experiencing the food and the charm of Nina.
Good Pizza, good prices. – Nina's is a nice place to have a great pizza and good wine in a very casual, comfortable cafe atmosphere. I had never heard of Argentinian restaurant serving Pizza before, and was a little skeptical. It's basically gourmet pizza with ingredients like goat cheese, pesto, roasted peppers, spinach, and you can order more ordinary toppings to make your own. The pizza con carne (seasoned with cumin and green olives) was very satisfying, and the crust was crisp and tasty. The marinated eggplant they bring out as an appetizer is excellent. The wine offers some good choices by the glass (thankfully served in full-size "adult" wine glasses - not those skimpy balloon goblets you get in some places), and the service is relaxed and attentive. We will definitely be returning to try the other pizza creations...they do have a full menu, but we were all eyes for pizza that night.
THE PIZZA mmmmmmm – My boyfriend loves to adventure for new places to eat. He knows I love Argentinian food.
He took me there one night and since then i cant stop going.
The pizza is my favorite thing also they have QUILMES very hard to find. The only place where i can find MATE serve in tradional whit the BOMBILLA and all.
Amazing Pizza and just an overall great little restaurant – My boyfriend and I went this past Friday night with a friend visiting from out of town. He'd been recommended this restaurant by his boss, who I would not normally trust with any sort of recommendation, but we thought it sounded like a different kind of place and tried it out. I'm so glad we did. Went about 6:30 and it was dead with only one other table taken (I think there are maybe 8 tables for 2 and 2 tables for 4, at most!). But by 7pm this place was crammed with people! It's a very small restaurant, probably one of the smallest I've seen but so well decorated with lighting and decor that it doesn't seem this small really. The only thing bad about the evening was a group of 8 consisting of 2 couples who each brought their 2 middle-school aged kids and they were SO loud...everyone, including the staff, kept glancing at them in hopes they'd get the idea to be quite or leave! Not Nina's Pizza's fault however, and they said it was never this loud. We got the empanadas (good!) and the provolone cheese appetizers (REALLY GOOD!!!). Split a bottle of white wine btw. the three of us. Ordered two pizzas: the spinach and ricotta, and the goat cheese and pesto, which the latter was out-of-this-world good! We all liked it so much that my BF and I are going back for another (hopefully more peaceful) visit this Saturday night! Overall such a great little place with the best staff and food I've had lately...and the prices couldn't been any better! My new fave!
Really glad we stopped in – I was visiting New York during some really bad weather this past March and a friend and I decided to venture out of our hotel to find something for dinner. We randomly stopped into Ninas and we were really glad we did. The eggplant lasagna was fantastic and my friend's pasta dish was great as well. The atmosphere was warm and the servers were attentive. All in all it turned out to be a nice, relaxing meal out after a long day of travel. Plus, it was one of the best meals we had that weekend. I will say, I'd recommend a table away from the door, especially when it's cold out!
UES Treasure – My friend took me here when I first moved to the neighborhood and I still feel indebted to her for doing so. This has turned out to be one of my favorite places in the 90's and have taken there many friends who love it just as much. It is charming, cute, has great food at a reasonable price and a great Malbec selection. The eggplant parmigian is probably my favorite dish, although the pizza is delicious as well.
Made me feel at home again, great customer service and cozy for a romantic dinner too – I am from Argentina and Nina is really Argentinian pizza, with great taste, the exact thickness and with all the styles I remembered from my country. The wine list is great if you want to try Argentinian wine like a good Malbec from Mendoza area and the prize is very reasonable. The customer service is excellent. The owner supervizes everything. A must go for a good dinner or for a date. And do not forget to try the dulce de leche pancakes with a cachamai tea for dessert.
I love this place – This place offers so much to their customers. It starts with a really warm, sincere nice greeting. The place is really nice and cosy, charming. ideal for a date or just dinner with friends. I love their pizza, the crust is crunchy and soft inside and the sauce is unbelievable. They also have a nice assortments of appetizers and specialties from Argentina. It is so enjoyable to spend an evening there, I always leave with a smile on my face.
Excellent place...best pizza! – This place is awesome! My husband and I finally went here after living in the neighborhood for many years and I am so glad we did. Their pizza is the best I have ever had...and living in Manhattan, I've had plenty of good pizza. The pasta dish we had was also wonderful but the pizza is a MUST try...it is out of this world! Just a warning though...they do add a lot of garlic to their food but I think that's part of what makes it so great.
The owner and her son are so sweet and attentive. This is definitely one of our fave regular places to eat. And at the prices they charge...you can't go wrong!
Hidden Gem – This was the best pesto I have had since I returned from Italy.
It is incredibly cheap and the food is delicious. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys fresh homemade food at great prices.
