The Scene
The smell of delicious flatbreads from the eponymous brick taboon oven adds a homey warmth to this neighborhood oasis. White brick walls and white-washed wooden tables keep the main dining room and bar feeling crisp and cool. The relaxed, professional servers encourage European-style lingering from groups and couples alike.

The Food
The menu plays with cultural pairings, the most flavorful being the mezes. Butterflied sardine, seasoned with cilantro, garlic and parsley melts in the mouth, while the calamari seviche features bok choy for a nicely textured dish. Lamb figures heavily in entrees: Chops arrive tender and juicy, and kabobs are large, heavily spiced patties. Jerusalem artichokes accompany the tender five-spiced duck confit for yet another twist. Save room for dessert: The first taste of the malibi with its rose-infused cream will instantly refresh, as will vanilla ice cream with date honey and tahini.

The most amazing seafood I have ever eaten in a resturant. I had Sauteed Calamari served on a bed of shaved fennel & yogurt, delish, and the calamari was so tender, i wanted to order another dish. My husband had a fish dish I forgot the name, but will never forget the taste can't wait to go back I need to found out the name of that dish.

I love all middle eastern food, but I have never had the pleasure of eating the flavors featured at Taboon. I would suggest reservations, as it almost always has a long wait. I would also suggest talking to the bartender and requesting a seat at the bar for dinner - it's quite lively. The wines are almost all great but cocktails are a bit strange (licorice martini ?) . The stuffed flat bread with cheese and peppers is irresistible. I like to get a few appetizers, both meat and veggie, to nibble on while I drink some wine. Entrees I've had have all been delicious , but somewhat pricey. This is an impressive place for both an imtimate date or catching up with a close friend. It's not cheap, but worth every penny.

I am no stranger to Taboon. I have been going since they opened a few years ago. I always had great service and good food. That being said, I will never set foot in there again. I brought a friend whom had never been few nights ago and right off the bat the hostess was very rude. We didn?t have a reservation and she was pressuring us to be finished and out the door in an hour and a half. It took forever to get our food and the waitress never thought to apologize or let us know why it was taking so long. When it finally came, it was so salty I didn?t even want to finish it. For the amount of money you spend for a meal there, it is not worth your time and energy. This is the first time I?ve ever thought to post a review. I wanted people to know that this eatery is on a serious decline.

What to Drink:

Finish the meal with either the lemon and verbena-infused tea or the Turkish coffee. Both are served with aplomb in tiny glass cups.

Know Before You Go:

Plan to spring for a bottle if you're a picky wine drinker, as the list of wines by the glass is a short one.
