With its long zinc bar, plush couches and patterned suede walls, the lounge is a swank spot for midtown's cocktail crowd. But dip around the corner, into a clamorous room of curvy booths and glossy tables, and all pretension disappears. Servers parade heaping bowls of shoestring fries and tall stacks of onion rings. People have fun with their food. Maybe because Laurent Tourondel fuses an American steakhouse menu with French bistro sensibility and charm. The gorgeous (and gratis) cheese popovers are best followed by ham-stocked clam chowder, or signature BLTs oozing with foie gras,…
HOT COFFEE
by beach buddy 27
We were seven people in our party! The service was so bad, the table was the worst, the food was ok nothing great and to top off the night they spilled coffee down my 22 year old daughters back. Not an enjoyable evening. With so many great places in New York - try someplace else!
- Pros: none
- Cons: very pricey and bad server
Overated and overpriced.

It was a good steak, dont get me wrong. Its really hard to "butcher" a good piece of meat so most anyone can do an average job. However, when you've experienced Peter Luger or even the Strip House, I'm sorry to say everything pales in comparison. The sides are very small. I'm not a bread person but they have these enourmous popovers for the table that my party enjoyed. Overall, I dont think its worth the price but for many single women, the place was crawling with martini drinking carnivores of the male type.
Joyce De Witt seems to like it, she was there with friends, she was lovely in person.

Loved the steak, wine list, and service was great- expensive, but it's worth it for a special night out- I will be back.
