The East Village sibling of a Brooklyn Peruvian restaurant has bravely staked a claim on curry-suffused Sixth Street, bringing a welcome new flavor profile to the monotonous block. Devotees of the distinctive cuisine will find seviches, rotisserie chicken, and a satisfying version of aji de gallina, the traditional chicken stew drenched in a creamy yellow sauce and garnished with sliced potatoes, hard-boiled egg, and olives. Whether your looking for a place to have you next private gathering or just a great meal, stop by Mancora and enjoy the classic taste of Peru in the heart of the East…
Great Authentic Peruvian Food and Drinks
by CarlosEzeta
This is the best Peruvian restaurant i have been to in a very long time. I'm Peruvian myself and was born over there came here when i was 9 and now i'm 22. The location here is great we went there for Mothers day 2009 and were pleased. The parking was on the street about a block away and costs us $5 in coins. The restaurant itself is very cozy and very rustic. IT has a little bar in the corner and the drinks were great. The service was also good and the food took the show. I had Pescado a lo Macho something i never had before and it was incredible. My mother ordered Entrana which is steak and that was incredible, she is very tought to please but she loved it. My stepfather who is irish had the pork adobo and he loved that also. The picarones and crepe with lucuma ice cream were also very good. Overall i loved it good price and will be coming back here with more people very soon. It is also only located 2 blocks from St Marks Place which is party central down in the East village, very Andy Warhol like down there . Check it OUT
- Pros: food,location.staff.drinks
- Cons: pulpo ceviche wasnt great
My second favorite restaurant in NY!

What can I say that's bad about Mancora? The food is delicious... the flavors are unique, there is a wide variety of creative, authentic dishes on the menu, and the drinks are delicious. I go here entirely for the food and because I feel it's a great value, but the service and atmosphere are fairly good, too. Depending on when you go, the restaurant is either completely full or completely empty. It's nice to have an early dinner during the summer, because often they open their doors to the street and you can people-watch. The food itself is also perfect for summer, especially their fresh and citrus-y ceviches. On busy weekend nights it gets a bit crowded and the service is a little worse.. you get the feeling that all the servers are a bit overwhelmed, and flagging down someone to take your order may take a couple tries. But the food and drinks come out quickly regardless, and I feel like it's worth it. Great date spot, but probably not good for large groups. It depends on what you're looking for in a restaurant, but if you're looking for a cute, romantic, mid-priced restaurant with excellent food, this is the place.
- Pros: Drinks, food, good-sized portions, cute and romantic atmosphere
- Cons: Gets busy and loud on weekends (like most restaurants)
Awful

The hostess told us that would take 5 minutes, but we waited 40 minutes for a table for three that never came. Apparently they just have table for couples.
