Great for Brunch. This is a very comfortable, cozy restaurant, excellent food, and perfect for brunch. They dont take reservations, but usually the wait is not bad, and if it is there are plenty of restaurants in the area to try. Everytime I've ordered fish there, it was excellent, fresh and perfectly cooked. Casual.

Great Food!!! Crowded on Weekends. The food here was just amazing. My cousin recommended we try it and she was spot-on. It sounds like the typical wait is 30-45 minutes on a weekend night, but they took us right away. It was a quite noisy and crowded, we definitely had to yell to hear each other. But the food made it totally worth it.

I got an artichoke salad and lamb made three ways. My boyfriend got the goat cheese salad and and flank steak. All really delicious.

The prices were very reasonable, but I would recommend going on a weekday if possible when I'm assuming there would be less crowds for a more intimate, relaxing experience.

Excellent Brunch in West Village. I love brunch because it is two meals in one. You could indulge in pancakes, omelets, French Toast & other food.

I got to Extra Virgin at 11:40AM on Sunday and I thought I beat all the Night Owls in NYC but I was wrong! The restaurant was already packed and we had to wait 20 minutes. Luckily, I was smart enough to snack a bit before I left house.

We got their famous banana French toast and Basque Omelettes. The French toast is huge and drenched in syrup. It is so fluffy and creamy!

My Basque Scrambled has fluffy scrambled eggs with pepper and Chroizo. It is a good portion and tastes excellent.

I would like to try their lunch or dinner some other time.

Hostess is rude and frustrated. I am sure everyone says this... I rarely write reviews (positive or negative) but in this case I had to.

The location of Extra Virgin is it's only perk. It is close to fun bars and lounges and directly off of beautiful Perry Street. I have been to Extra Virgin a couple of times and enjoyed the food...was not overly impressed... but it was fine and the menu had some creative appetizers.

However, the behavior and attitude of the staff, especially the hostess, is appalling. I have witnessed countless acts of snobery and rudeness but none compare to the way she treats the patrons of this restaurant. My friend arrived first and ordered a glass of wine at the bar. When I arrived and we were being brought to our table the hostess turns to my friend and says "you cant sit down until you pay for that" referring to her glass of wine. Embarrassed, she said that she already paid. We let it go and shortly after, 8 people arrived and were seated next to us... at a table for 6. One of the girls could not even pull a chair out to sit down. She asked to be seated at a table for 8 that was available in the front and was told that they could not. The reason? "Only certain people are placed at that table" (perhaps models or young hipsters that make the place look "cool"?) The hostess then said that maybe they could fit if they didnt have so many coats and bags. Should they have thrown them in the garbage? left them on the curb? Being that everyone could not fit at the table, the people had to leave the restaurant. They were clearly from out of town and being a native New Yorker, I was embarrassed. It is no wonder we have a reputation for being mean and stuck up.

A Great Experience Everytime. The perfect West Village Restaurant! Everytime I visit (about once every three months) I have the most enjoyable experience.

JUST DELIGHTFUL!. This is the coolest Village restaurant that haas managed to survive the old style trendy NYC Village atmosphere. Food is amazing, great wine list and service at the bar is proberly the best I have had in NYC with nothing but pure kindness.

Great brunch spot but slow service a drag. This west village brunch mainstay has nice outdoor "deck" seating and some well executed food. Those in the know come Sunday nights for spaghetti and meatballs.

Overall weak service keeps Extra Virgin from being a top notch locals spot. Despite what looks like a busy and full set of waitresses and busboys, service is consistently slow (unclear if this is due to high waitress turnover or understaffing). The hosts are usually unfocused and more preoccupied with talking to other patrons than managing the door. Bartenders are more charming and attentive.

Bad experience. Poorly run. Not a friendly place. The barmen are cool and nice. That's the only positive thing I have to say about this West village overrated place.

love it love it love it. It'll take a sec to get a table at peak times, but the food is well worth it! One of my new favorite places.

Extra Virgin was a no go.. one of the WORST dining experiences ever.

As soon as I entered, no one greeted me and you couldn't even tell who the hostess was because she continuously talked to some waitress who worked there.

it took FOREVER to get a table in the cramped space with tables LITERALLY 8-10 inches apart. I also am a petite person, and couldn't get into the chair without hitting people around me.

The waitress, who I will keep anonymous...showed no signs of being nice.

She didn't smile, and wasn't attentive. I asked her a question about wine, and acted as if it was giving her a hernia just to answer it.

Don't go, the food was alright, the service was HORRIBLE.

I have no idea why people go.
