Nutricious & Delicious.
Read about this place on a burger related blog ("A Hamburger Today" for those who are interested) and made a plan to visit ASAP. After visiting I am amazed this place isn't more packed or more talked about but then I suppose NY has so many places that claim to offer a good burger. The thing that really gets me about this place is that it is healthy AND good but looks like a regular crummy burger joint. It's all grass fed beef (the best kind these days). Some folks think grass fed means a dry burger but the juice was running all over the place so much that it almost makes the buns soggy (my top bun slide off the burger as I was taking the final bites).
I had my burger with a slice of avocao but traditional cheese (they only have only kind of cheese) and a few other options are available. Menu overall is simple and they have a wide array of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options. Price...eh. $8.25 for the 1/4lb. sirloin is not exactly a steal but if you want quality you have to pay for it.
The kicker for me though was not the burger but the side salad I ordered. I have never seen a side salad this good anywhere. A salad like this would make a nutrionist do cartwheels; chock full of several colorful vegetable with a light vinaigrette not just a few measly pieces of lettuce and a tomato slice or two like many burger joints. I will definitely be back. If you like burger and are trying to do healthy, this place is for you.
Great space, excellent turkey burger, Perf place for a party. I have been to Zaitzeff's many times; used to order from the downtown spot when we lived there, and now go to the East Village restaurant. I love the charm of the space, that it is family-run, and as a non-beef eater, the turkey and veggie burgers. The sweet potato fries are divine, and you sort of feel healthy eating them. We actually had my husband's bday party here and the space was perfect- the bar gives you a place to congregate for drinks, and the upper platform is private without feeling shut out. When we were discussing the party, Zach's mom insisted on making a cake for him, which was so kind- not something you bump into that often in NYC!
great burgers. this place is brand new- still working out a few kinks but the owners are really nice and the food is great. the place is one of the cleanest places ive been to on the lower east side. Its mostly organic and hormone free- great fresh ingrediants- on occasion when its really busy, you may have to wait a little bit for food but its ok because the food is WORTH THE WAIT! atmosphere is also pretty nice- large nice paintings and good jazzy music. friendly/good looking bar guy , clean bathrooms- just a nice place to sit down and relax for a while. the portugese muffins are amazing- anyone who says differently obviously came on a bad night or something ( maybe the 1st or 2nd night open) GREAT place. brings fam or a date in evening - they light candles and it makes it a pretty romantic atmosphere- cool wine by the way
fantastic fresh burgers. huh? I don't get the last review. If you get a raw burger and don't like raw beef why would you eat it in the first place to get sick? Sounds like someone's just badmouthing this place. I order from here all the time and love the food. They make everything to order and use the best ingredients. have you seen the way they do the fries? With cast iron skillets so that they can change the oil 5 times a day. awesome!
Raw Burger. Just spent $25 on a Raw Burger, wrotten lettuce, onion soaked bun- TERRIBLE. Then spent the night throwing up! Spend your money at either southwest or PJ clarkes their both cheaper and wayyyy better and it won't send you to the restroom all night.
Great, fresh, homemade food!. Everything I've had here has been fantastic. For a tasty egg/ham sandwich on a portugese muffin on weekend mornings, to delicious burgers and turkey burgers, to great sweet potato fries (a little soggy, but so good regardless), this place is top-notch. The portugese muffins really put the burgers over the edge--in the best way. They are almost slightly sweet, and they complement the burger and the onions so well.
Great burgers. The burgers at Zaitzeff are mouthwatering! I have never had a better burger. Lunchtime during the week is very busy, so be prepared to wait a while for your lunch, but it's well worth it! They might seem a touch expensive, but they are made of all organic ingredients, and you can taste the difference.
satisfying burgers. ive ordered from here through seamless web twice already and they have some of the best burgers in the city. the kobe beef burger (quarter-pounder $8.25, half-pounder $15.25) is juicy and cooked exactly to your specifications. they claim to use only organic ingredients (not that i care). the lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled onions are all very fresh good garnishes definitely make a difference! they also serve fresh gourmet mustard (very good). the zaitzeff burger ($8.25) is good, but the meatloaf patty tends to fall apart during consumption so it can get a bit messy. as an added perk, the burgers come on portuguese muffins (similar to english muffins). fries ($4.50) come in either sweet potato or regular russet form get the regular as the sweet version is soggy. the regular fries are thin, lightly-seasoned, and freshly cut with skin on. menu is limited but whats there is good.
Fantastic salads. I've never been to the restaurant (just delivery through Seamless Web) but it has become my go-to place for salads. I recommend adding the sweet potato/cheddar/avocado to the mixed green salad for a delicious, healthy meal. I don't know of any other restaurant that puts as many different kinds of fresh greens and herbs in their salads, which is what I love about Zaitzeff's. The organic chicken sandwich and the veggie sandwich are also quite good, and the sweet potato fries are great. It's a limited menu, but I've enjoyed everything I've tried.
best burger in the world. this place is the best. A 10! They get their kobe straight from the farm
