cozy place...
This place is a little pricey, but not over the top, the portions are small but worth every penny!!! When I go out, I would rather have a few spectacular bites of food than a plate of something mediocre.... Plus the wine selection is excellent!
The staff is polished and knowledgeable, and despite being on Third and usually occupied by the "beautiful, it's unpretentious.
It's a cozy place, perfect for an intimate date
I still love this place.
overall there is amazing food, great drinks....fun live music... out door seating...and just great staff along the way.. everyone is totally accomodating, and always ready to help.
the tapas are tasty and so nice to be right near the south street seaport
Yikes - gone downhill hard. I am so saddened by this place - it was one of the standout excellent restaurants in my downtown neighborhood. I have to agree with the "thoroughly disappointed" review below. They have slipped. Food is supermarket bought standard with none of the old flair. The drinks are still tasty but not worth the premium. I have two nights set up to go to this place with friends. However, after our last 2 or 3 times we are finally done and can forgive the mediocrity no longer. I am going to find an alternative spanish/cuban to replace Salud and not go back again for a year at least.
Thoroughly Disappointed. Big night - parents in town and relatives I hadn't seen in 15+ years. I picked Salud because I heard great things. Must've been when there was different management because last night's 6:30pm dinner was a big AND EXPENSIVE disappointment. Poor AC, flies, portions way too small (my $24 grilled seafood platter was a 10" round plate with ~ 6 small to medium shrimp you find at the grocers and ~ 6 small-med scallops on about 1/2 cup of field greens and ~ 8 glazed plantains on the side). Taste - mediocre. The plate of about 20 plantain chips was TASTELESS - think Communion wafers. Music too loud for a space with maybe 15 tables. The specialty drinks were really the only thing good but even with them, there were only 5 you could choose from for the happy hour prices - all others were $9/piece. My uncle took the bill and I felt just horrible for ever dragging them there. Of course no one said much, bad or good, but I will never ever go back. Looking at the reviews, this place had seen its heyday and it is long gone. The only thing good was our waitress. Good luck if you choose to go.
I love this place. I have been to this restaurant on multiple occasions and the food and drinks are always good. The staff is very courteous and nice. The tapas are small but filling (I always order more than one). There are lots to choose from and the menu is always being updated. This restaurant is very small and simple, it reminds me of old school Miami with all the dark wood and clean walls. It is right down by the south street seaport, so it?s not really close to much. Everyone I bring to this restaurant falls in love with it and its food.
great lunch nice atmosphere. I had lunch with a friend here and it was great. The service was prompt and quick and for only $20.00 we had a 3 course menue. The shrimp ceviche appetizer and also the skirt steak kabobs were delicious. Dessert was great, we ordered the rice pudding and also the coconut flan. Our waitress was great, the drinks came right away,I definately will go back for more!
Attentive service, delicious food, good presentation. Beautiful calm clean setting. Perfect to go alone or with a date. Everybody worked together, from the bartenders to the waitresses to the busboys. They were helpful and honest in describing the size of the portions. The food was delicious and presented well on the plates.
delicious food. My husband and I came here for a romantic evening to dine out and we had a superb time! Not only was the food delicious, but it was very affordable and the drinks were also very good, we really enjoyed the mojitos. The service was also great, efficient, friendly, and fast. We are def planning another night out here, I would highly recommend checking it out!
Fantastic place!. This restaurant is a magnificent place to dine at. The atmosphere is inviting, the food is great and the drinks are to die for! They make the best sangria's and flavored mojito's, ...I have to say. The tapas menu has so many great dishes to choose from, I couldn't make up my mind. The food was flavored with great spices, made fresh and also satisfying. I am absolutely in love!
Horrible Service, Prix Fixe Menu a Scam!!!. Made a horrible mistake walking by. Made a bigger mistake walking in and sitting down. It wasn't that busy when we sat down on a Sat night so we were surprised the wait service was that long. It took 15 minutes for our drinks, another 20 minutes for the waitress to take out orders. For the start of dinner, they ran out of food already - were they NOT expecting people to come in? So for a choice prix fixe, we really didn't have much of a choice. The fun part is that after placing our orders, we were given over an hour of free time to wait. After a few frustrating cigarettes later and numerous attempts to pay for drinks and leave, the food came. It really didn't matter that we were starving, builds character ya know? I ordered the paellalita and it has got to be the saddest thing on earth. I really think they need to re-word their descriptions. Instead of "lobster meat" it should be "a fleck of GRATED lobster meat". That's really what I had, a tiny fleck of lobster meat that probably accidentally fell off the grater onto my plate...OH glory be! I didn't think things could get worse but at Salud, I am optimistic. My friend and I ordered side dishes, but they forgot to bring them! OOPS! During dessert, we asked for no syrup in flan/pudding...OOPS its mixed in. After all is done, we wait again, another 25 minutes for our check. Hell it's only a Sat night, we have nothing better to do, by the end of this, we already spent over 3 hours for a $110 meal we did NOT enjoy, felt utterly ripped off, disgracefully disappointed and NEVER AGAIN! Oh did I mention we weren't full- all those calories burnt from the waiting thank god for MCD.So a word of advice, if you are in a rush and do not have time or money to spare this is NOT the place to be, and even if you do, this is NOT the place to be! SALUD!
