Dr. Brown is the Best!!.
I highly recommend Dr. Brown. She has been caring for my dog for 2 1/2 years and I will follow her wherever she goes. She is an excellent doctor, and her bedside manner is top notch. She is so gentle and caring with my dog, there is no way I could take her to see anyone else. If you feel that your dog deserves the best of the best go see Dr. Brown.
The City Vet staff is also fantastic. The front desk crew is helpful and smart, and the vet assistance are caring, knowledgeable and extremely professional.
Highly Recommended!!
Dr. Brown #1 Veterinarian at City Veterinary Care!!!!. Dr. Brown treats my doggy with kindness and insures proper treatment in such a carasmatic way. As soon as I walk in I am greated by the young man up front who is nothing but exceptional, He is courteous, friendly, professional and attentive to everyone that walks in the practice. With Dr. Brown in this practice makes this the #1 Vet Clinic in New York City. As for Dr. Kaplan I have only seen him briefly and from what I have seen his personality does not shine like Dr. Brown. When I enter to my appointment with Dr. Brown she is prompt and attentive and I am out within 30 minutes and I have seen Dr. Kaplan's customers sitting in the lobby waiting for him since prior to my scheduled appointment. Anyways, .Highly recommend anyone that accepts my calls on her offtime, Keep up the great work.
Best Vet Care in Manhattan. I moved to City Vet Care from another upper west side vet 4 years ago and have not looked back. First, I took my 11 year old dog, with complicated medical problems to Dr. Kaplan. He couldn't have been more attentive and serious about my dog's treatment. I saw amazing improvements in my dog's health under Dr. Kaplan's care. He personally returned my calls, often on his own time, which I very much appreciated. When I was faced with putting my dog down, Dr. Kaplan could not have been more compassionate and sensitive. I later took two of my foster dogs to City Vet Care. We did not see Dr. Kaplan, but saw another vet who was terrific as well. My current dog sees Dr. Kaplan, and we receive the same exceptional care. I have never paid much attention to the receptionists, as they are not treating my dog. Anyone in this city is aware that even the best park ave docs sometimes have mediocre receptionists, it should be a non-issue, unless it is an impediment to your pet's care, and if so, raise it with the vet. I would not take my dogs anywhere else.
Exceptional Practice !.
I have received only excellent VET care by Dr.Kaplan , Dr.Paul Cavanagh & Dr.Brown !
The reception staff are all caring & courteous !
Techs are great !
Hospital is clean !
I feel really BLESSED that I have finally found a Animal Hospital that I can trust to take of my 3 babies .
Since, I have a huge list of grrrrsss for Vets I have used in the Upper Westside & East Side of NYC.
And, they are one the few vets involved in helping "Animal Rescue Groups" in NYC with the cost of medical care .
Which proves that they really have a passionate" LOVE" for animals !!!
Thank- you !!!
Mac-Kaplan. I showed up for my appointment at City Veterinary Care and after waiting for almost an hour, I was told that there were no rooms available but the doctor would talk to me and examine my pet in the waiting room, if I was in "such a hurry". I am a native New Yorker and I?m used to space constrains but I felt that this was a bit too much. The waiting room was loud and hectic, and needless to say, it lacked any sense of privacy. I felt that we received a very unprofessional treatment, in spite of the fact that the doctor was very apologetic about the whole thing. My advise to Dr. Andrew Kaplan is: close your clinic and open a fast food franchise- you?ll get the high volume and $ that you are clearly seeking without deceiving your clients.
Atrocious customer service and unkind incompetent vets.
I am shocked by what I saw and how badly I have been treated in this clinic. The staff is rude and incompetent. The office manager is an out of control incompetent appalling woman who screams at customers. If you tell the staff that they made a mistake, they blame you for it. There are always so many people working at the same time that you get a headache looking at them. The problem is that the staff is under trained and the office manager is so incompetent that there is a need for ten people to do the job of one competent person.
The owner is no prize either. He is neither nice, nor diligent. My dog's problems went undetected and my concerns unheard by him. As a result, I was forced to take my dog some place else to get proper care. The owner is a condescending inconsiderate man with no manners and no respect for clients. My family has been awakened late at night by his calls. He would yell at me that he was tired! No one asked him to call that late and it wasn't even an emergency. He is ruder in person. He should know that speaking fast, laud, and over a client does not make him correct . Everybody makes mistakes, but a good doctor lives up to his mistakes and responsibilities.
poor quality care, no compassion. My pet died at home a day after being released from city vet care. She had been hospitalized for multiple tests and treatments for over 4 days. I was devastated. I left multiples messages for Dr. Kaplan, the owner of the practice, and he never took the time to call or e-mail me back.
Doesn't get any better. In the interest of full disclosure I just recently got a new puppy and therefore have only been to City Veterinary care once. I was somewhat hesitant as a few of the reviews here have said the staff can be rude, but I found that to be as far from the truth as possible. The two females in front were extremely nice and insisted on holding my puppy so I could tell they really liked animals. This immediately put me at ease as being the owner of a new puppy is stressful enough as it is without having to worry about a bad experience at the vet. I didn't see Dr. Kaplan as he wasn't working on the day I went, but instead saw Dr. Sheehan who was as nice and as knowledgeable as you could possibly ask of a vet. Like I said, I only went once, but this place felt right from the start and I am very relieved to have found a place I am so comfortable with right from the start.
from great to the worst. i had to find a new vet after giving city vet care many chances. dr. kaplan is too busy to take care of his clients and every time i find a vet i feel comfortable with, they leave in less than a year. each new doctor seems less caring and less experienced. the receptionists are rude and sloppy. i was given the wrong medication once, and twice they gave me cat food instead of my prescription dog food... no more.
Terrible reception. We were happy with our veterinarian, who is no longer with the practice, and vet tech. The front desk receptionists, however, are consistently unprofessional. They often put us on hold, while on a call for scheduling an appointment, and never return to the call. And while on a visit, they purposefully allow you to wait even though they are clearly idle and do not need to attend to anything else before providing you with whatever--paperwork, etc.--they are supposed to.
