best of staten island. I went there with my girlfriends this past weekend and had a blast. We sat outside and had cocktails and food all night--the food is amazing! Definitely my new favorite place.

Rude staff. I ordered a delivery last night and it took them an hour and 30 minutes to deliver. I called 3 times after 50 minutes of waiting, and the staff didn't say once that they are sorry to keep me waiting. When, after an hour and 30 minutes, i have said that i would like to cancel my order, they simply said "OK" and hang up on me. The sushi did arrive in a minute and they were not anything to write home about.

Great place for Japanese food. This is the best Japanese spot out of all the places I been to. The appertizers are great, and the sushi is great. The service is excellent. The staff is very friendly. The only down side is its pricey.

Excellent!!!.
I am a big Sushi lover and this place is amazing. If you do not want to leave SI for a night out go here. The sushi was amazing and delicious. We tried a lot of places on Si and nothing compares!
THe four of us paid 150 with drinks and we were so full we couldnt look at food anymnore. I higlly recomend this place, and I am going back this weekend.

terrible service. the first impression when i walked into the restaurant ---bad service. there were 5 servers there at least. no other customer were waiting. nobody wanted to come forward to greet us until we were standing there 10 mins long enough there was someone finally came out to the reception area and gave us a look like "what do we want?" .........bad service like this enough to scare customers away from the good part of sushi

Better than Fushimi. After Excellent's recent renovation I decided to try again after being disappointed by the decline in Excellent's food over a year ago. What a smart move. Not only is the interior and exterior fabulous but the new & improved menu and superior quality has returned to an even better than before status. Now SI can tout Manhattanesque Sushi. Fushimi has a name but certainly not impressive to me at all. Sushi Excellent has surpassed my expectations and is truly the best on the Island. Service is great too. Everything we ordered was fantastic, including non Sushi items..

Dazzling food, Great Service, Cozy Ambience.
Ate there twice, before & after renovation, everything I ordered was mouth watering...
I really loved the new ambience, I really can't wait for the upstairs to open so that I could some parties there. Well, now we don't have to drive all the way to nyc for drinks. Besides, the food there can keep up with Manhattan anyway.
BTW, for the waiter who got fired for the reason he mentioned, I think you are not total honest about your statement. I was a restaurant mgr myself. We don't fire people for a good recommendation. And for the customer who claimed to find "insect shell"?? For crying out loud, most of the fish have shells & fins(shrimp shells have legs too), those are tiny. No big deal! In Japan, we eat live fish & China eat live worms & those are delicacy. If you are looking for free food, just say so. On the other hand, if you are 100% sure that the food is bad, the mgr should give you a comp for them item or buy you a drink.
Pls, guys....me & my friends really like this place & the staff @ sushi excellent, give them a break. I believe in a short feew months, this is "THE PLACE" to hang out.

I know about the buggies. I was a waiter for them and not only are there buggies but the chef smokes while he cooks! from time to time he misses the floor and the food becomes his new ashtray! I was fired for suggesting to hire my friend that is an exterminator. also if your brave enough to go there then look around the corners of the restaurant CLOSELY..You will see a lot of DUST laying around due to the "new" construction and guess what??? theres more floating around the kitchen ending up in your food!

Insect Sushi!!!!!.
It was so terrible!!!!
I can't believe that but really revealed in my eyes!!!
My friends and I went to sushi excellent on New Year Eve. We heard the restaurant has already renovation. We felt so excited because we used to have great time there. The restaurant decor is so great and the drinks, appetizers also until the main dishes came out. The dishes looked so beautiful. While I was picking up a piece of sushi roll and ready to put in my mouth, I saw a "thing" as brown color, long as nail size with many legs like crawling. It was scared my friends and me. We all stopped and requested cancel all the order. But the captain said we have to pay the drinks and appetizers for those before we had already eaten. I felt so disappointed to pay for what and why? We feel nervous about before we ate and drunk. We should go to hospital body check! It was so stunning New Year!!!!!!
My friends and I won't go there again.
