Consistently Great Food and Service.
About a year ago, we were looking for a place to go in Queens that had the quality and service we had in the city without the hassle of having to travel into the city. We went out on a limb and tried Kyoto and have been going there ever since - at least once a week. The food is excellent and the staff is extremely friendly. We were amazed at the quality of sushi, which is comparable to many places we go to in the city. For those who prefer something cooked, the Thai/Japanese kitchen menu is extensive and delicious. It's great to have a place to go that accommodates the sushi lovers and those who prefer their food well-done. The tatami booths and private party rooms are great for gatherings and private parties.
Whether it's date night or just a casual night out with friends, Kyoto has yet to disappoint. The atmosphere is casual yet romantic and chic. It's a pleasant surprise to have a place like this in Queens. The cocktails, sakes and desserts are definitely worth a try! My recommendation - start with a Lychee Martini, followed by the Sushi Deluxe or Pineapple Fried Rice and end with the Thai fried banana with honey for dessert. Mmmmmmm!
Private Party Rooms are a delight!. we recently had a nice birthday celebration in the private party room and was pampered by the staff. we were loud and a bit messy but the noise never bothered anyone else so we could be ourselves. there was a ball game on the tv, which some of us could watch while courses were being served. all in all, we had a great time and would definitnely do it again!
Tasty Food, Trendy Atmosphere!. Kyoto has become my favorite Japanese and Thai restaurant. Not only do they have delicious food, the restaurant has a hip atmopshere one can only expect to find in Manhattan. The best thing about Kyoto is their special rolls, they are addictive! The fish they use is undeniably fresh. Their salmon teriyaki is superb! All of Kyoto's dishes are reasonably priced for their fine quality. Definitely try their tatami booths for a more authentic Japanese eating experience.
Great hip, casual, comfortable sushi place!. This is our staple sushi restaurant we go to in Queens. It's reasonable, family-friendly, is always busy which is always important for me when eating sushi. And the wait staff is always friendly. And the food is great. Love the specialty rolls and the Dynamite!
Pay for the setting. The girls in the front desk are really friendly and nice. The waiters were helpful. The food came out fast. The wooden seats werent as comfortable as I thought it was. The setting of the restaurant is very nice, sets the mood just right. I felt like I paid for the decor at Kyoto, rather than the food. The food was nothing out of the ordinary. Although the drinks seemed interesting and new, the bartender didnt seem too happy making them. Overall, the trip to Kyoto was mediocre.
Great Sushi at Amazing Prices!.
I've been to Kyoto on numerous occassions. The first time, I just stopped in to try it out. I ended up parking my butt in one of the seats by the bar and enjoyed some great food! I enjoyed some great wine as well as a great conversation with the friendly bartender the entire time I was there. It's rare that you see a bartender have a conversation with every customer who sits by the bar and waits for their takeout.
The 2nd time, I brought a date there for dinner. Upon entering, not 1 but 2 hostesses quickly dropped what they were doing to greet me and my date. The atmosphere was extremely cozy and romantic. Eventhough it was a pretty busy night, the wait staff was very quick and attentive. The drinks and food both came out extremely fast to my surprise as sushi restaurants tend to take a long time to serve especially when busy! The sushi was extremely fresh and the have a great twist on many traditional drinks and plates. My date had a great evening and was extremely happy that I took her here.
I would recommend Kyoto to everyone I know and even people I didn't know!
great food and service. I went to kyoto one day and i had a great experience. i like japanese food and at kyoto it was really nice the service was fast and the food is awesome plus the people are really nice. Esspecically the bar and the front desk. If u want to bring a date next time or just have a good time with friends I recommend kyoto and its not that far. Kyoto is really nice and romantic I highly recommend it.
Horrible place for dine in, best to order take out..
I used to work near Kyoto so I've been there a few times, and I refuse to go back. The food is pretty good with very fair prices but their service and drinks was TERRIBLE! If you work or live near Kyoto, I'd advice you to order take out instead of dine in. It will save you from a horrible experience!!
The last time I ate in there with some co workers in Oct, we were pretty much ignored the entire time except for the very rude girls in the front who gave us plenty of attitudes when we walked in. Our food came out pretty fast, so fast that it beat the drinks to the table. I ordered a Mojito and my co worker had a Lychee Martini, they were both the worst we've ever had. Their so called bartender doesn't seem to have a clue about making drinks, she pretty much just threw the mint leaf and limes in for display and filled more than half of the glass with club soda. Also like Jennifer A. mentioned, we also saw the bartender drinking behind the bar (maybe if you stop drinking, you can learn to make better drinks). The worst part of the night was when we found out all of those rude girls were under the age of 21.
I don't understand how this place can stay in business with such bad service and allowing their underage girls in the front drink on the job.
This place was SPECTAC-ular!.
So I went to Kyoto with a couple of my friends and I'm a very picky eater and don't usually go for exotic cuisine, but my experience was amazing. The host staff was very friendly and the mixed drinks were excellent; they have many of their own recipes and have put twists on many common drinks such as the mojito, cosmopolitan, and martini using sake, peach, and other flavorings. And the food! Even though I was venturing out of my comfort zone, the food was especially delicious (I had the black noodles and some of the Kyoto Chef's Salad). The chef's salad was an assortment of sushi presented in a martini glass and it was sooooo good! The thai food was also very flavorful and spicy because I love food with a little kick. Anyways, long story short: check this place out!!
I had an amazing experience and I'm sure you will, too!
good food....poor service.
i was enjoying a nice meal with my wife and friends.....the food was good....fast....tasty......
the problem was the hostest who complained about the amount of tip i should leave..........
