Recently featured on ABC's Nightline, ABC's I-Caught, Brides New York Magazine, the focus of a new TV series and the producers of the new "How to Dance Your Wedding And Not Look Stupid" DVD", it has recruited top teaching artists in all forms of dance to make your first dance an experience to remember.

This midtown Broadway studio has recently doubled in size to accomodate demand. All lessons are held in comfortable, antique decorated, private studio spaces. Couples are treated with personal attention not found in conventional dance studios. Attention is paid to every detail. Even if you just want your dance to be fun and easy (as a lot of couples do), correct preparation is paramount. Some couples want a flashier first dance, some want to be more traditional, All couples should be liberated by what you learn, not constricted by it.

In the months of preparation before our wedding, there wasn't anything wedding-related that was close to being as romantic and fun and relaxing as the few dance lessons we took from Leslie. We had a great time, and though they must see hundreds of couples a year we never felt like we were being churned out of an impersonal learn-a-wedding-dance factory. We had never danced before and really enjoyed how at ease we were made to feel. Leslie made dancing seem far more approachable than we had anticipated. We absolutely recommend NY Wedding Dance to anyone and everyone. Unfortunately, we were too happy and full of nervous energy at the wedding to be at all graceful, but that has everything to do with our negligence in practicing and nothing to do with our instruction. But we don't really care; I think our lessons will be more memorable in the years to come than the few minutes of the actual dance.

Pros: Nice people, personalized instruction, great space, relaxing

Cons: none

My wife and I got married on September 29, 2007, and we took 10 lessons with Nathan beforehand. We had no formal training, but we were always considered the best dancers among our (admittedly rhythmically-challenged) group of friends, so we wanted to do more than just rock back and forth to Etta James for 3 minutes. After doing a ton of research and visiting a number of NYC dance studios, we decided to go with NY Wedding Dance because 1) the price was significantly lower than most places; but moreso, 2) the crew there seemed willing and eager to challenge us. When we said that we wanted to include a lift, most other instructors cringed, but Nathan said, No problem. Each lesson was very professional and a lot of fun. The practice floors are totally private and quite large. We really choreographed the routine together; he listened to our suggestions, and included moves that we saw on Dancing with the Stars. But Nathan always made sure that we didn't get so wrapped up in the technique that we lost our connection with each other. On our wedding night, even with the billowing dress and slippery rental shoes, we absolutely nailed the routine, which included three lifts, two dips, and a death drop. Our families and friends were blown away; it was the talk of the night, and we still get compliments about it months later. There is no doubt in our minds that we chose the right studio. When you plan your wedding, you think that you'll remember every detail of the day, but trust me, it goes by so fast that you won't. There are a few moments from that day that will truly stay with me forever, and our first dance is definitely one of them.
