The Delancey is a rare breed - a shockingly nice rock club without the velvet-rope hassle. This Three-level playground provides a variety of spaces for disparate Lower East Side elements to mix it up. The tropical rainforest-style rooftop hosts private parties all year which is covered & heated during the winter months. The smoker friendly space is lined with benches, palm fronds, a BBQ, & fountains. The main floor, meanwhile, has a cool grotto vibe and a decor that?s equal parts exposed brick and sleek wooden slats with a fireplace ebbing with ambience. Here, a DJ holds court on most nights, playing a mix of rock and disco. Downstairs live bands flood the basement, a superb music venue equipped with a tight sound system. The Delancey is perfect for private parties, holiday parties & corporate events. Check out the website for directions and more info.

Nestled at the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge, this three-story nightclub summons the young, the broke and the devastatingly hip. Cute 20-somethings wearing side-swept bangs and distressed jeans catch the East River breeze in the lounge on the first floor. Behind them, a long bar and DJ booth lead to the back room--a cozy, red velvet-swathed seating area. Downstairs, mirrored walls work to expand a small space with a stage that attracts buzz-worthy bands and DJs. There's usually a line for the rooftop bar, but it's worth the wait. Atop the faux island getaway, palm fronds wave in the wind and guests mingle among the patio tables, a fountain and an umbrella-topped bar. .

I was thinking about going there, but the utter pretentiousness of the manager in the hat is enough to make you want to throw yourself off the nearby bridge. The very negative reviews and the the drinks and bouncers don't make the place too enticing, either.

I paid $8 for small vodka drink then realized they were using POPoff vodka. That suff is horrible, costs like $2 for a giant bottle. They said I had to pay extra for absolute which was considered "high end" vodka and were really rude about it. I was nauseous after that.

Of course, if you love pretentious service, being ignored, paying a lot for drinks, and generally being treated like garbage unless you carry a lot of clout, this is is the place for you. I read about the great DJs that this place supposedly has. But in the two hours we were there, we listened to Def Leppard and Billy Idol. The ENTIRE time. (OK, maybe there was a little Cinderella as well.) That was too much in the 80's and twenty years hasn't made that much hair metal any better. But in all fairness, the staff wouldn't know that because they probably weren't even in utero back then. Every single seat in this place was RESERVED at 9:30 on a Saturday night. And yet, it was COMPLETELY EMPTY. We sat down at a table because all of the bar stools were removed - so you had to stand - and were promptly told by an unbelievably rude busboy that we had to leave. Note to the staff: If you are going to actually sit around in the only unreserved section (the stools that were removed from the bar) because you have nothing else to do, you should be a little more discrete about approaching your only clients who have no where else to sit but in "reserved" seating. It looks bad. "Bad" as in rude, lazy and you just lost a good deal of business from this bar-goer.
