Nestled at the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge, this three-story nightclub summons the young, the broke and the devastatingly hip. Cute 20-somethings wearing side-swept bangs and distressed jeans catch the East River breeze in the lounge on the first floor. Behind them, a long bar and DJ booth lead to the back room--a cozy, red velvet-swathed seating area. Downstairs, mirrored walls work to expand a small space with a stage that attracts buzz-worthy bands and DJs. There's usually a line for the rooftop bar, but it's worth the wait. Atop the faux island getaway, palm fronds wave in the wind and…

Editor's Tips

Save Money:
Monday through Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm and Thursday from 5pm to 7pm, drinks are $2 off. A bonus in summer: The roof isn't too crowded in the early evening.
Know Before You Go:
There's no cover during happy hour, but door charges vary. Call ahead.
What to Drink:
Big summer drinks go down easy on the porch. A strong, tall and delicious Long Island Iced Tea ($10) packs a punch that minimizes trips to the bar.
ambiance

  1. recommend this place for anyone looking to have a good time with friends in an atmosphere where everyone can socialize and dance if desired.
  2. great a $7.00 bottle of beer (no tap) and $9.00 drink, all before 6:00PM - once upstairs we were treated to a really bad foliage nightmare, one horrible view, and a total of about 6 other patrons.
  3. The decor is nice and cozy.
  4. The location is uncomfortable to find as well as a little loud due to the bridge but nice place to go to after work.
  5. If you are out in the LES i would say delancey is a good/fun bar, if you are looking for a place to get a bunch of people together i would say delancey is a GREAT bar that unlike most places doesn't make you feel like they are doing you a favor and actual
  6. wow, talk about no atmosphere, granted it was nice to be outdoors, but for the trouble to get there, pay these ridiculous drink prices and be with the most miserable working crowd we have ever witness (serious attitude adjustments needed) this place so NO

  1. While the rooftop bar is nice with its palm trees and foliage, the management of this place needs to go.
  2. Since I was the birthday boy, I don't recall anything really too late but from what I do remember, the place wasn't packed, all my friends were able to meet and drink, all for a reasonable price.
  3. paid $6 for a warm Stella Artois, still don't know why the website is claiming that beer and well drinks are $4 until 8pm.
  4. What kind of business overbooks several parties on one small rooftop, advertises $4 drinks when they are actually $9, and banishes people from the one spot on the roof with a cool breeze on a hot summer night because the management didn't have the forsigh
  5. If you are out in the LES i would say delancey is a good/fun bar, if you are looking for a place to get a bunch of people together i would say delancey is a GREAT bar that unlike most places doesn't make you feel like they are doing you a favor and actual
  6. anyhow in general the staff was really nice & eventhough it was busy the drink wait wasn't bad although the price might jab your pockets at $9 a premium.
  7. wow, talk about no atmosphere, granted it was nice to be outdoors, but for the trouble to get there, pay these ridiculous drink prices and be with the most miserable working crowd we have ever witness (serious attitude adjustments needed) this place so NO
  8. Of course, if you love pretentious service, being ignored, paying a lot for drinks, and generally being treated like garbage unless you carry a lot of clout, this is is the place for you.
  9. can't stand tortoise-like bartenders that "cool" their way down the bar, but not in this case.
  10. We sat down at a table because all of the bar stools were removed - so you had to stand - and were promptly told by an unbelievably rude busboy that we had to leave.
  11. Great, mellow place to have a few cocktails
  12. We stayed on and had a good night-- it was Tuesday, they bar-b-que-- we had good cheeseburgers.
  13. great a $7.00 bottle of beer (no tap) and $9.00 drink, all before 6:00PM - once upstairs we were treated to a really bad foliage nightmare, one horrible view, and a total of about 6 other patrons.
  14. There are hundreds of other bars on the LES that have great drink specials, good music, and a lot less attitude.
  15. also had a botte service and the bar-backs were extremely attentive making sure that we had enough cups, mixers, etc.
food quality

  1. There was free bbq alright, but it was only for a group that had paid $$ to have a private rooftop party (needless to say that group wasn't happy to see others lurking around scoping out their burgers and dogs).
  2. The space on the roof is great, we brought in catered food which worked out really great and kept costs on the lower end.

  1. It's a good place to become a regular.
  2. After speaking with several people on the phone who seemed very pleasant thought it would be a great place.
  3. My friends and I were looking for a new out of the way place (right on that one) which would have an outdoor area, The Delancey seemed like a great place to enjoy happy hour in the summer.
  4. read about the great DJs that this place supposedly has.
  5. If you are out in the LES i would say delancey is a good/fun bar, if you are looking for a place to get a bunch of people together i would say delancey is a GREAT bar that unlike most places doesn't make you feel like they are doing you a favor and actual

  5. After speaking with several people on the phone who seemed very pleasant thought it would be a great place.
  6. We were upstairs with about 20+ people and it was kind of a rainy, chilly night but the covered roof was fantastic.

  12. would suggest a cocktail server for private parties but i didn't mind mingling with everyone.
  13. Poor service, rude and rowdy bouncers
  14. The bartenders and manager were helpful, kept me updated on the tab, etc. and they helped clear up after the party was over.

I LOVE THE SUSPENSION SUNDAY PARTY! wOO hOO

by accidentalvoyeur at Citysearch

I really love this place. It's just an awesome space and I go here with friends when delancey throw events or parties. Three floors means lots of dance space, my favorite spot is on the top floor (the roof) I used to love Byte a few years ago, but now there's this funky sexy party they always have the Last Sunday of the month called "Suspension!" I freaking love it and I always have a blast here.

don't throw a party here--never going back

by mllemlle at Citysearch

reserved a space for 25. dana called to confirm a few days before. when i arrived, there was only one small table that could fit 8 people. i complained and was told there was a larger party with over 200 people arriving. my party was at 7 pm until 9:30 pm, the larger party was not scheduled until 10 pm. there were plenty of other tables available. the staff overall was EXTREMELY RUDE. i chose this place because it was not pretentious, and it ended up being more pretentious than any club i've been to. my friend did not even tip the bartender because of her attitude, and this is a friend who always tips graciously because she previously was a waitress.

$10 for a mixed drink in a plastic cup loaded with ice

Great staff and burlesque shows

by JoetheShark at Citysearch

The Delancey Lounge is just a fun three story place, and on every Tuesday they have burlesque in the basement, and on Wednesday they have a burlesque dance party as well! What more could you ask for?

great venue

by npanc at Citysearch

Spoke to the person in charge of reserving space at Delancey, she was beyond accomodating and was able to book the back area of the bar (at no cost other than what you spend at the bar!). The party I had at the venue was for more than 50 people and not one person had any issues at the door (which if you ever have tried to have a party in NYC venues you know is rare if not impossible). While the main area was pretty packed the crowd was decent and the music was great. If you are out in the LES i would say delancey is a good/fun bar, if you are looking for a place to get a bunch of people together i would say delancey is a GREAT bar that unlike most places doesn't make you feel like they are doing you a favor and actually seems to welcome having you as a patron...

  • Pros: Great music, good drinks, private space
  • Cons: gets packed
