Descrimination?. My friend and I both walked in for an interview for massage therapy position here. She has years more experience than I and is incredibly talented. The only difference is she is black and I am from Russia. When they turned her away and hired me, I was shocked. Of course I did not take the job, but I think businesses like this should be made public about their discriminatory hiring practices.

Read the reviews!. I find it funny that the review below is written by a "professional," writer yet she can't manage to properly spell all the words she uses in her rant. The one titled "Horrible" as well--this format even offers spellcheck, perhaps a professional psychiatrist would be able to identify the connection between one's anger, with the inability to write a cohesive sentence. In any case, I found it interesting, and also wanted to say here that I am a regular client of Sava Spa. It's my home-away-from-home, my sanctuary, it's where I go to be made beautiful and to talk with Joanna, Galina and Marta, all the women who were put down in the first two reviews, and for the life of me, I cannot understand why.

HIGHBROW. For a man, having his eyebrows and lashes tinted could be a harrowing experience. But not so at Sava Spa. Joanna and her staff are the most friendly and professional people. Any guy wanting to put his lashes in the hands of a beautician does not want to come out looking like Ivana Trump. So let me say Sava Spa is the place to go if you want a terrific cappuccino, personal attention, great surroundings and eyebrows and lashes looking like they did twenty years ago.

Sava is always a marvelous experience. I was shocked to read a critical review of Sava Spa. Every experience for me and my husband is always nothing less than perfect in every way. The incredibly talented Joanna and her fantastic staff offer exquisite treatments, personalized service and make each and every client feel special. We wholeheartedly recommend Sava Spa to anyone who is seeking a tranquil, soothing experience using the latest skin treatments that produce glowing results. Where else could you find such a high caliber spa above 59th street, and is it any wonder why the spa is frequented by major stage and screen stars? Hurray for Sava Spa!

Horrible. My first visit there was my last one. The customer service was horrible. The front desk lady there named Galina could not speak English properly and was dressed like inappropriately. The owner Joanna had bad breath and on top of that I had to wait 20 minutes for my facial that was poorly done by a girl named Martha. They were all speaking polish among themselves which I found profoundly rude. To top it all, the bill was outrageous for a terrible service. Take my advise and never, ever lay your foot at sava spa.

Sava Spa. I was shocked by the two reviews posted on 5/29. They have been clearly written by a person with lots of personal issues, looking to take them out on someone else.

I have been Joanna?s customer for 15 years and received nothing but royal treatment. The service is absolutely impeccable. The pedicure lasts for months and always gets me complements. More importantly, after every visit to Sava Spa, I feel beautiful, younger and energized. Joanna always knows how to improve my mood and how to motivate me. Unlike most people in this industry, Joanna is authentic. She doesn?t have to make an effort in order to please her customers. She simply enjoys her work and enjoys people (in all their shapes and forms). She is truly interested in people?s lives and able to engage in a meaningful conversation rather than small talk. I haven?t had much experience with other employees of Sava Spa but I know that Joanna selects them with great care and makes sure they remain motivated.

So, please go and check out Sava Spa for yourself and I guarantee you will want to come back!!!

Relaxing, rejuvinating experience.. In the months leading up to our wedding my fiance (now wife) encouraged (forced, dragged, ordered) me to go to Sava Spa. I was scheduled to receive a cleansing facial treatment. As a corn fed mid-western male I must admit I was not all that thrilled at the prospect of going to a spa for a facial, but I acquiesced. By the end of that first visit the owner, Joanna, and her staff had completely won me over. My facial was relaxing, cleansing and performed with enough vigor to let me know I was getting my money's worth. My time was made even more enjoyable by the pleasant conversation peppered throughout my treatment. The warm compresses she applied were heavenly and before she had even finished I was already reviewing my calendar in my head so I could schedule my next visit. In addition to the treatment I also appreciated the cozy upscale space they had created. It was small enough that I didn't feel like just another person in an assembly line of customers and the soft music and ambiance really added to the experience. I couldn't imagine a more enjoyable or effective way to relax and get my skin ready for all those wedding photos at the same time!

A little slice of heaven in manhattan. Where do I begin? When I first arrived at Sava, I was a spa-virgin. I hated the stuck-up, elitist atmosphere of other spas...so I stayed away. Then, one day I just happened to walk into Sava's door and all of that changed. Joanna (the spa's owner) and her girls greet me as if I'm home from a long trip everytime (and I've been back many times, believe me). They pamper me. They fawn over me--but in a way that's more like a group of girlfriends concerned for their friend's well-being. At Sava, I am not a business transaction. And Joanna is simply the most wonderful, warm and truly kind person in this big city. Her entire bubbly personality fills the place with an instant energy. Sava spa is, to me, a home away from home. And I'm so glad I found it.

relax and wax. I have been a client of Sava spa for the past five years and have enjoyed all the services that they offer.

I am especially impressed with their leg waxing . When I made an appointment for a full leg wax, they recommended that I only wax my lower leg wax because my upper leg was not very hairy. I really appreciated the honesty. In addition, whenever I walk in to make an appointment , the lovely woman at the desk offers me a seat in one of the comfortable chairs and a delicious cappuccino. what better service can one ask for!!!

Joanna named Best Esthetician of the Year. Sounds like someone has a personal axe to grind or why waste so much time & energy vilifying Sava & its staff? An angry FIRED ex-employee, perhaps? Certainly no customer walks in with a gun to her/his head. I've been going there for years - paid so much more elsewhere - but Sava is incomparable in quality of service. Current employees are consummate professionals who would never bad-mouth one customer to another. The ambience is relaxing, warm, and friendly - an oasis in the Big Apple.
