“The bartenders and servers are gorgeous and nice, the food is excellent, and it's a very sexy place--very modern and clean but still cozy.”
“Also, they just started having karaoke on Tuesdays and it has been really fun (great sound system and fantastic selection of songs).”
“The people that were there were nice and the bartenders make the place.”
“late nights on the weekends are when trendy 20 somethings flock to this bar lounge for great drinks, beautiful people and awesome music.”
“Drinks are expensive, but on the upside, the bar staff are nice to look at.”
“the bartender sucked, he was rude and a slow pourer.”
Dangerous, Drugs and Thugs. I decide to check out the place on a Saturday night. This place is dangerous as hell. People snorts drugs in restrooms and a guy offered me a try on a spoon out of a tiny bottle. The same guy walked out the bathroom, bumped into a latino waiter and threatened the poor guy. The place was packed with hoodlums an low lives. Watch out. Stay away!
Nice After Work Spot.
I like the place for after work only. Hey If you can't afford it, don't go there.
I do agree with earlier post "unbelieveable" ..there are some characters - obviously from the late night thu / fri /sat crowd who starting to "drift" in during happy hour. It will be just a matter of time when, not if ,the two cultures(white collar professionals vs hip-hop) clash over something stupid.
LOL. this place will be closed soon, no worries...what went on there was the last straw for this place, They have gotten away with murder for years, but now that someone was almost murdered there done. it was only a matter of time.
Not Suprised.
Why am i Not surprised to see people complaining about criminal activity, violence and serious danger at Bogart's.
This has gone on for years. This is one of the most dangerous places in Manhattan. Its not even safe to live over here.
On the weekends where the RIF RAF they call clients spills out into the neighborhood its downright horrifying. I don't even allow my wife to walk by herself on the weekends in direction. The only thing i am surprised about is that, there still open. (HELLO 17pct?????)
Im all for this place closing down. after last weekend, its long over due and time for community board action. Seriously what is it going to take? its a Disgusting place. Its look like prison let out on the weekends, at Bogart's... SO Don't go there unless you are a criminal or have a death wish. NOT SAFE AT ALL..
I ONLY HOPE THE NEXT LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT GO THERE ARE THE POLICE WITH ORDERS TO CLOSE THAT PLACE. This place makes me sick to my stomach, and everyone else in my neighborhood.
Good time!. If you like having a good time check this place out! It totaly brings a boring neighborhood some life!
Danger. Read some of the other reviews also . The fact that his place is still is allowed to open is insane. There are allot of bad bars and clubs in Manhattan, but this one is down right dangerous, on the weekends this place is open to criminal element that flat out terrorizes the neighborhood. They bring in hordes of people who treat park ave as there own personal toilet. there is always some activity outside from fighting, breaking bottles, openly smoking , screaming and yelling, etc... The fight that took place 2 weeks ago is one of many of that nature. Its Nothing surprising to the people that live here. Its only going to be a matter of time before someone gets ended in that place. hands down the worst place in Manhattan and needs to be closed for everyone safety. I just don't get it, i see all sorts of stories of bars and clubs being closed for minimal offenses, yet this one some how is allowed to remain open while being openly dangerous and criminal...I guess when someone is finally..... the police will take notice..what a joke....
Don't believe the Hype. RalphieQ below was right on queue ! except I will speak from the "after work" so called "Happy Hour" perspective. Yes there are corporate suits(and yes I am one) , there are over 50 - 60 suits and maybe 4 - 6 women and of those, 2 - 4 "play Softball" , so single guys , don't waste your time..go over to 3rd ave and at least have more women to look at. The drink prices ? well you are in Midtown East, not LES so dont go there for drink specials. There is no listening music and the bartender has plenty of "attitude" , who wants a male bartender anyway? I dont plan to go back, I will just keep passing by on my way to GCT
Enjoy boring lunch, get lucky at happy hour, get bludgeoned on weekends at Bogart's on Park Avenue in Murray Hill.
Corporate types (the few that still have jobs) eat here on weekdays. Earlier reviewer got it right when he/she said the food is lackluster and overpriced. The bar turns into a meat market on Thursday and Friday from 4-8.
The real action happens when Bogart's owner leases the place out for private hip hop parties on Friday and Saturday nights, starting at around 10 and lasting until 4 the following morning. That's when the crowd spilled out, hurls on the sidewalk and starts brawling in the street. People have been cut, punched and kicked. At 4 a.m. on February 28, dozens of NYPD units responded to a riot. The front windows were smashed out. A red bodily fluid was all over the sidewalk. Two ambulances transported people to hospitals. One victim was beaten in the head with one of the poles used on the sidewalk to rope off the door. Cops wrote down the license numbers of every car that left the bar, and the Hummer and stretch limos that picked up drunken partiers, including some with blood-stained clothes. Homicide investigators responded. The NYPD Crime Scene Unit was processing evidence for 13 hours.
This is an establishment that doesn't give a hoot about keeping its patrons safe. The guy cleaning up the broken glass the day after the latest melee (one happens every few months) said the owner would not rent to blacks anymore. He called them awful things that I will not repeat here. Bottom line is that, unless the owner is willing to take responsibility for paid off-duty police, a stand-by ambulance, and video cameras to record the inevitable fights, this bar should lose its liquor license. The excuse that, "It isn't my fault. I rented the place out to X, Y or Z" should not be tolerated by the police, neighbors or the patrons of Bogart's.
Need details, talk to the 17th Precinct. Bogart's is a place to avoid.
BOOO.
THEY SHOULD CHANGE THE NAME TO BOGUS.
SLOW, INCOMPETENT, IDIOTS FOR STAFF.
FOOD WAS GROSS
OVERPRICED
ALWAYS EMPTY
Great Drinks, Appetizers, Atmosphere. Great place for happy hour, it's a bit expensive so make sure you're not paying. I enjoyed the kebabs and the tuna appetizers.
