Even well-dressed locals can't skirt the slow Hotel Gansevoort go-ahead for entrance to this luxe rooftop lounge. Like any hot spot in the MePa District, the crowd is motley: Tough guys in T-shirts and gawking tourists mixed in with stylish professionals and trendsetters. In short, it's the absolutely stunning views of the Hudson and midtown that possess people to squeeze their way up to the bar for an outrageously priced cocktail. But vistas like this don't come for free--and the endless crowd spills out of the glass-enclosed main area onto the hassocks of the narrow adjacent lounge. The best spots are found on the wraparound patio, with its flowerboxes and fresh air.

After getting pass all the what seemed like Secret Service security to get in (which was rude) We get upstairs to find out the treament is only for some. We celebrated friends birthdays one of who found a Long HAiR in her salad. Waited over an hour just for our appettizers and another for the main course. The water pitcher was filthy....Not worth the money! too many hot spots in NYC to go thru that!!! NEVER AGAIN

The experience starts with a long line and a well dressed, large, imposing doorman that scans your ID in a handheld scanner. This allows them to track VIPs and banned customers. I love technology. The doorman was very polite and explained the device while we were waiting. Once upstairs, you see great views and cool, loungie furnishings. The staff is efficient, and the drinks are delicious. It's worth the wait.

Overall, I enjoyed my time there. It was cold outside, so It's probably better in the summer. The music wasn't that great either, it didn't match the environment.
