Great Management!. Last night was my 3rd or 4th time at Stir. I love that place. Because my girlfriend and I have a bit of history there, I decided to propose marriage to her at Stir. I let the staff know my plans a few days prior just so that they could hold a couple seats on the couch for us. To my surprise, the management took it upon themselves to prepare a bunch of cool stuff to help us celebrate our engagement. They definitely took what I thought was a simple space reservation to the next level. I was very impressed.
Great Lounge!.
My friends and I had went this past Saturday and had such a fun time! The lounge has such a great vibe and is very trendy.
The specialty drinks were so good, especially the peach tea martini.
Our server was so nice and very attentive. She checked on us several times and we really received great service.
I had beef sliders and crab cakes for dinner, and would recommend them to everyone.
We really enjoyed our evening and will definitely be going back soon.
Had the most horrible evening.
Firstly, the floor was sticky; one had to make an effort to pick up one’s feet or else it stuck to the floor. Service was at SNAIL’S PACE, though there were only 4 or 5 other customers. Our main dish came before the appetizer, which seemed lost but was discovered sitting on the bar counter. The bartender actually said, Let me go find it. He took the orders and every time he walked away it took him a good 15 minutes to return. When ordering food, he encouraged us to have the Southern Platter. When asked if the dish had anything fried, he seemed puzzled, like “What’s fried?” but finally said no, nothing was fried. Except for the quesadilla, EVERYTHING WAS HARD FRIED!! Food seemed to be from Costco! When we asked for the tiramisu, one of two desserts offered, the bartender had to walk away AGAIN to check whether any desserts were available at all. I wondered why they even bothered to OPEN. As a restaurant visit – it was a disaster!
I was there with my husband – we’re minorities in our 50’s. I don’t know if the bartender thought we weren’t regular “lounge” types and had just wandered in and as such didn’t need any attention.
AMAZING!!!!.
I went to stir yesterday for valentines day. Our waitress Mel was great sweet and maDE sure we needed for nothing. Food was delicous, I initally ordered tuna which i didnt care for (not because of taste but because i had never had it before) So John was great and took my plate with out a question and replaced it with entree of choice.
mel, joe, john and god i cant remember the bartenders name (he made fab drinks hence the reason i cant remember his name) Thanks to all of you my wife and i had the PERFECT VALENTINES DAY!!!
Great place to host a Party. I organized my brother's surprise party at Stir. Alex and his staff did a wonderful job addressing all my needs to make the party a success. All the guests thought Stir was a great venue for the party. It was a pleasure giving an additional tip to all the staff for all the wonderful work they did.. Thumbs UP!!
Overpriced drinks, they try to scam you on the tip. Went as a large group for a birthday. We had reservations. After a huge hassle when they gave away our table to accommodate another group we were seated. The food was ok, nothing spacial. The $12 for a tiny mixed drink was absurd though. The kicker was when we got our checks (we did separate checks). They automatically added 20% tip, but then listed the tip again on the credit card receipt along with a space for additional tip. So if you weren't paying attention you'd assume the credit card receipt was showing you subtotal (including tax), tip, add together and you get the total. Except the subtotal already included the tip. Very sleazy. Do not recommend, there are much better places to go in the city.
Awful. This is what happens when a couple of Jersey yokels make a couple of bucks & open a bar. Terribly corny and B&T all the way. You're better off drinking beer at home.
Great Party Venue.
After a long search for the perfect place to have a birthday party, I stumbled upon Stir. I walked in and was immediately charmed by the non pretentious decor and friendly staff. This staff included Joe, one of the managers of Stir. Joe was genuinely helpful and never tried to sell me on anything. We reserved a nice sized section that comfortably accommodated 40 + guests and purchased two bottles. The bottles were reasonably priced.
We started off the party with food, which was a perfect mixture of party food. It was certainly not your typical bar food.
As the night went on, Joe and his waitstaff made sure we were always taken care of. There was no confusion about tabs or tips; the waitress kindly let everyone pay in cash for each drink.
Stir never became too crowded, the music was consistently good and there was no uptight doorman giving people a hard time at the door. No one had a problem getting in.
Everyone had a great time. This place is perfect to throw parties. Just ask for Joe....
Stir - not your typical UES bar.
I don't usually write reviews about places but I was at stir last saturday for a birthday party and just have to say that i had a great time! I've gone to a lot of places on the UES but this place was a lot different, and in all the right ways.
Very cool vibe, with a friendly bartender/waitress staff. No issues at the door...and the music was right on! DJ had us dancing the whole night!! Will definitely be back and will look to book my own birthday party there.
A Place Destined for History (as in, soon to be history).
Just returned home from this lounge and figured it best to share while the experience was fresh. While our waitress was adequate, there?s little else that to recommend about this tacky little place. The decor was closer to what you?d expect at the local dive bar but without the pool table. You?d think that at least some of the drink price would go towards comfortable seats or a decent DJ, rather than 4 LCD TVs tuned to the Colts/Chargers game and a ?DJ? little better than Z100 but without the selection. On top of that, the first three things we ordered from the menu weren?t available.
There were less than 20 people there on a Saturday night after midnight in New York.
This place is definitely struggling and management doesn?t seem all that motivated to stay in business. Given the abundance of alternatives in the area, this was a definite first time/last time visit.
