Smithfield.
Great atmosphere, great place to meet people. The music was excellent. Nice SMOKERS beer garden out back - phew !! Friendly staff, great place for parties or for relaxed after work drinks.
Excellent pool table in the beer garden, at last a place to smoke and play pool !!!

Nice place, but watch out. We 'reserved' a party of about 50 for New Year's and were told it was going to be just us plus another party of similar size. They told to get there before 10 to stake out space. We got there about 9:30-it was PACKED! They had opened to the public with seemingly no limit. Supposedly the other party had cancelled and now it was 'another party of 500 that would be in and out' (the public!!). The back patio never opened as promised. They extend our open bar an hour, and after midnight you were at least able to move. I think most left pretty happy, but we picked Smithfield in the first place to NOT be SQUISHED. No room to dance for sure. So, on a normal night, nice place, nice staff. Reserving a party on a popular night? No reserved space. Bottom line, they were about the $$.

the most welcoming bar!. I had a party, an art exhibition actually, at Smithfield - the absolute perfect place for it! It was an unusual event that called for an all-women staff (graciously arranged for us) and also nailing many photographs to the wall everyone was so accommodating, it was like having my friends throw the party. So many guests remarked on how much they liked the space, the decor, the excellent staff (Michelle, Shira and Paulette took great care of everyone!). There was a range of 20s to about 80 years old attending, and absolutely everyone was so comfortable there which was particularly important since the exhibitions subject was provocative. Even my mothers friends found the bathrooms to be clean enough for them! Thank you, Stuart and David for Smithfields part in the exhibitions success! Check this place out for your event, or for the evening you will thank me!

Keela. Was there at christmass 2001 and i had the best time you could have in a bar.The bar man Stuart was the best (if you go there you will know what i mean).Would recommend it for anyone looking for a good night out.But do try the blue bananna i highly recommended it.

That Ol' Irish Magic. Had a birthday party there this summer and couldn't have had a better experience. Owner Stuart and his staff were so cool and friendly. Great open, inviting atmosphere - everyone had a great time. Definitely a new favorite of mine!

Gave it a chance and like it!. Invited friends to meet me at Smithfield for my b-day celebration. Overall a good time, but it got very crowded! The outside patio and pool table were great until they closed at 11:00. The DJ spun a nice mix that kept the vibe going all night! This bar/lounge has something for everyone.

Great fun. This place is such a great find! I have been there a several times before and during the summer months (when busy and not so busy) and have found the service to be excellent (not to mention excellent looking) and the drinks to be reasonably priced and good. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a night out minus all of the attitude of most of the new lower east side venues.

Party Planning Hell. My friends decided to reserve a space for about 40 at Smithfields for my birthday party, based on the incredible recommendations by citysearch users. However, when we got there, the place was completely packed. Our promised party space was nowhere to be found and the manager was extremely blase about it all. Needless to say, I'm never going back to this overhyped dump.

Party Central!!. I RECENTLY HAD A BIRTHDAY PARTY AT SMITHFIELD WHICH WAS ONE OF THE BEST PARTIES I HAVE EVER HAD. THE STAFF WERE REALLY FANTASTIC;GREAT SERVICE, REALLY FRIENDLY AND FUN AND THE DJ THEY HAD WAS BRILLIANT. THE ATMOSPHERE WAS TERRIFIC TOO, A REALLY PARTY PLACE. I WOULD TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE WHO IS PLANNING A PARTY OF ANY KIND TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT.
