The Scene
Chef Laurent Tourondel's second eponymous eatery takes on seafood (the first was BLT Steak). The downstairs feels beach-shack casual with wooden booths and a raucous crowd. Upstairs could not be more different, with many diners flexing the corporate card. The bustling, open kitchen anchors one end of the dining room, but the retractable sky light roof is the room's dazzling centerpiece. Service on both levels is perky, and the soundtrack runs from Madonna to jazz.
The Food
The upstairs menu is largely a la carte, however, bits of the seafood shack mentality creep in--notably the complimentary cheesy biscuits. The grilled octopus salad, smokey tendrils drizzled with sweet oil, makes a nice opening though the meaty Dungeness crab salad is overwhelmed by mayonnaise. Revel in the velvety, buttery Chilean turbot; cheaper, but just as pleasing, is the artfully plated citrus sea bass, filleted at the table.

The four of us went to BLT Fish last night and had a great time. The clear highlight was the amazing dover sole, which is definitely worthy of the press it gets. And frankly, for a $50 piece of fish, it better be! The creamed corn with chanterelles special was also incredible, but we weren't into the goat cheese risotto, surprisingly. We went because Bruni gave it three stars (twice), and we can see why. Highly recommended.

I went to BLT Shack (downstairs) several times years ago and had good meals but I tried it again last night and it was terrible. The clams and oysters on the seafood platter were off color and dried out. We ended up going elsewhere for a real dinner. This place no longer has the same quality as I remember from prior visits. The AC wasn't working well either.

Went with a few clients and had an awesome dinner. Luckily, everything was on the boss's card because the bill was ridiculous. The dover sole was amazing and they have a great wine selection. Dessert is not just dessert either - its about 3 extras by the time you leave.............lets just say the apple cotton candy did not make it past the subway ride home. Service was a little overbearing at times - i think they knew we were trying to impress and kept pushing more bottles of wine. Overall - a great time
