The Syracuse-based barbecue phenomenon plunked a sprawling roadhouse with all the familiar back-road accoutrements into an abandoned meat factory. Unfinished wood-beamed ceiling, burlap bag curtains, scattered country bric-a-brac, and an enthusiastic greeting feel worlds away from the city. The roll call of devotees includes area families, couples on casual dates and groups of Columbia students. The meaty menu ranges from fried green tomatoes and smokey pork ribs to Texas brisket and bronzed catfish. The real stars of the show, however, are the jumbo spice-rubbed, pit-smoked chicken wings.

Dino BBQ is definitely in my Top 5 places to eat in New York City! While it is certainly not a place for passers-by, those that plan the trip will be handsomely rewarded with a huge plate of ribs, and some delicious side dishes. I personally go for the french fries and beans with my ribs! The only drawback to this place is that it so so popular that the waiting area cannot accommodate everyone one inside. The bar area could be 50% bigger, and that might do it...but if you can get to the bar, you will find a solid selection of craft brews in bottles and on tap, and the drinks are as good as they get in the City. I had a rookie make my Long Island the other night (it was cute because she was measuring the shots). The second one was clearly made by the veteran bartender who was pouring two bottles from each hand! Oh, and do yourself a favor, book your reservation online. Makes it much less of a hassle to get your table. Big groups must reserve early since the place is so popular!

The food was commercial BBQ. The Service was horrible. It was moderately priced. Don't waste your money.

I'm not a big BBQ eater, but I've been to Dinosaur BBQ a few times and pretty much licked my plate clean. The Deviled eggs are a must have as an appetizer and every entree I've tried (ribs, brisket) was tasty. The drinks are good and strong. Be sure to leave your mark on one of the bathroom walls.
