What People Are Saying About Bottega Del Vino

The Scene – The century-old dark wooden columns painted with quaint, folkloric designs summon a medieval, Alpine atmosphere. Wine is everywhere: Bottles line every available nook, chandeliers are fashioned from decanters, and service loves to make a show of priming glasses and grandly presenting the 50,000-bottle tome. The crowd of oenophiles, 5th Avenue shoppers, and European business types don't need prodding to drink it all in. – – The Food – The love of wine overflows into the kitchen, as it pops up all over the menu, from a Chateaubriand with Rosso Di Montalcino…
Its like being in Italy.
by ABrazilian
Bottega del Vino is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. The food there trully tastes like real Italian food from starters to desert. The only problem is some staff member have a bit of attitude. I wish Severino (owner) would check on them in order to provide customers with great experience in all aspects. One time a blond lady server, who basically neglected me and my friend throughout our whole meal, changed the amount we wrote on the cc stuff for tip. We should not even have left her anything, but we did leave an 18% tip...and she changed it. I contacted my credit card and got really frustrated. Did not file a claim since it was a small dollar amount...but it just did not feel right. I love the food and still got here BUT i pay cash now. When you are inside the restaurant, its ambiance takes you to Italy.
- Pros: food
- Cons: service from some staff members
ALWAYS A WINNER
by mauichef
My daughter and I stumbled across this wonderful restaurant a year ago after too long of a wait at Sarabeth's for brunch. We were immediately impressed with the service. We also loved the all day panini menu and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. We have been back many times since and have always had a great experience. I personally enjoy the lunch and brunch the best, but the dinner is good too.
- Pros: Everything
what's with the indifferent service?
by lex142
The restaurants in New York must be spoiled or something because with just a little more effort they could make an average meal exceptional. Nice works, indifferent is repulsive.
I thought the food and wine here was exceptional and so did my companion. It's a noisy tumultuous place and I knew that going in, but I'll say again that the service is where restaurants fall short. Try looking me in the eye and smiling.
- Pros: food, wine
- Cons: snotty waiters
