“Our meal started out well -- friendly and quick service, charming atmosphere, and a nice eggplant parm appetizer.”
“the pie is thin and crispy, the sauce simply delicious and the bufala mozzarella is AMAZING!”
“I'd also like it if they had a full bar (wine and beer only), but I'd still go back in a second.”
“Though we have never eaten in the actual restaurant, their take-out is excellent -- delicious, home cooked meals, delivered hot to your door.”
“go to a lot of "really great" restaurants and eat a variety of food, but to date, nothing has ever once toped any of my multiple experiences at this pizza place.”

“Props to the chef & the staff for giving us a GREAT dining experience & we WILL be back!”
“Hands down the best pizza of my life and waitresses ain't too bad either.”
“The best Pizza in NYC, not American Pizza, but Napolitan Pizza ( a huge difference)”

Luzzo's (formerly Zito's East) is a unique hybrid pizza: it's cooked and composed in the Napoletana style, with thin crust and fresh mozzarella and wood fire, but in a 120 year old coal oven that provides far more heat than any wood oven could. The result is spectacular, and criminally underrated.
'n muostro 'e pizza.
I am an Italian guy from Naples, grew up between the best pizzerias in the world, and when I travel the world I always miss the taste of home. I found it now in the East Village, , there is a place called Luzzo's.
The best Pizza in NYC, not American Pizza, but Napolitan Pizza ( a huge difference)
Give it a try and you wuill never Stop.
Delicious Bufala mozzarella and a crispy thin crust , baked in a old coal oven are what make this the number 1 Place for Napolitan Pizza.
THE BEST PIZZA EVER.
just came across this place, and i was happly surprised!!!!
i've been in Napoli a couple of years ago, and tried the real pizza i can tell u this is the real deal!
u won't find another piace like this in the city, probably in the states period.
the pie is thin and crispy, the sauce simply delicious and the bufala mozzarella is AMAZING!!!!!
SOMETHING TO DIE FOR!!!!!!
the atmospheare is warm and cozy and will make your experience even better!
good pizza but only for takeout.. the pizza is okay...but the service is not good at all..because one day that i was there one of the waiters pulled down his pants in front of every1 and i was so disgusted that my wife wanted to leave immediately so i do not reccomend to go eat pizza at this place olny for take out is good..and also its very pricey and besides the pizza the food is disgusting...and dont get me started about the bread they gave me 2 slices and one of the waiters spilled water all over my wife's purse and we didnt find out till we left! so luzzos is not one of the best places to go eat!
Best Neopolitan Slice in New York. I walked into Luzzos in the east village and ended up in Naples, Italy. If you are looking for a real Italian pizza instead of a New York pizza then Luzzos is the spot to go in New York City. This hot coal oven cooked Neapolitan style pizza with imported buffalo mozzarella from Italy tastes so good. I sometimes feel like back traveling in Italy and stopping for a little slice of heaven. If anyone going with you is not a fan of pizza I say with a doubt the gnocchi is a good choice for a pasta dish.
I Love Luzzo's. I am a very fussy eater and I have to say that Luzzo's pizza is terrific --- crisp, thin crust and just enough cheese. I much prefer it to Lombardi's. I also have tried their yummy homemade pasta dishes with bolognese sauce . Only once the pasta was slightly underdone for my taste. The service is excellent as well - speedy and attentive.
Best pizza in NY. I know a lot of restaurants claim to have the best pizza in NYC, but I think Luzzo's is the real one. I've tried describing to my friends exactly what makes Luzzo's so good, but I've been unable to come up with an justifiable description. If you're a pizza person, just give this a try. Pizza is sold only by the pie (not slice) so you'll have to have some friends to share with, but it's definitely worth it.
Average with benefit of the doubt.
To be fair, I ordered a pizza that was loaded with meat - but boy was the crust spongy and my stomach felt knotted after eating. It reminded me of a frozen pizza.
Now, I have friends who swear by this place, but I thought it kinda stunk and so did my girlfriend... I await the pounding from "real" italians blah blah blah. Everyone has an opinion, and IMHO this is not one of the better places in NY. In fact I would rank Luzzo's under Totonno's, Grimaldi, Patsy, Johns et al.
Surprising Pizza. I really didn't expect much from this place, but the pizza was very good - great, even. Leaps and bounds better than Lombardi's or Grimaldi's. The space is cramped and oddly decorated, but that doesn't matter much when you're eating pizza. The service is great, and the entire staff is friendly.
Absolutely the pizza in NY. Luzzo is the only real Italian pizza in NY. It's amazing. If you like Grimaldi, then stick to that, because you have no idea of what a pizza is.
Luzzo's pizza are the best in New York City.. When you going to Luzzo's you feel that you are in Napoli. The service is very good. The pizzas are soft and delicious.
