“Definitely went beyond your quintessential italian ingredients into slightly more creative dishes, which in combination with the atmosphere, truly delighted us for the price.”
“Great wines and desserts too and different specials each night.”

“Surly Manager and Terrible food”
“The brunch menu is as creative as the dinner menu.”
“great place for a date!”
“The owner was incredibly rude, unapologetic, and obviously could not have cared less about our negative experience.”
“The portions aren't huge and it was so satisfying to eat every last bit of my dinner!”
“We waited 45 minutes for a table that was contantly just "5 minutes" away, while we watched two groups of equal size (also w/o reservations) get seated at great tables!”
One of My Neighborhood Favs.
One of my our favorite restaurants in the East Village. The servers are knowledgable and pleasant and the food is consistently excellent. Wine list is reasonably-priced as well.
The dining room is small and not every table is in a good location. I suggest visiting Cacio e Pepe during off-hours to enjoy an early or a late dinner at a table of your choice.
VIVA!.
Even though this place is dark, I would classify it as high-energy more than romantic. Maybe it was the night we went: the kitchen was bustling, there was a lot of chatting, the place was full, the staff was friendly...
The pastas were very good. I would have liked to see more fish and meat dishes offered. Definitely a place where I would return.
Try the panna cotta!. Have been twice now. Excellent pastas. Try the almond panna cotta - yum!! Staff is friendly and informative and bathrooms are clean and well-lit to boot.
Memorable!. I really love this restaurant!. The food has been excellent each time we have gone there. The meals are actually memorable... I couldn't forget the signature dish Cacio e Pepe. This time I will not forget the chocolate mousse and truffle dessert! We had no problem with the service... everything was perfect.
Authentic Italian. Not sure what the other folks who didn't like this place ordered or did to the staff to insult them, but I live around the corner and come here all the time. The food is authentic (meaning Italy, not just snotty Manhattan pseudo-Italian restaurants) and the service is good. Perhaps the service is not McDonalds speed but the servers describe the wines, dishes, etc. only in a way an Italian could - full of expression, love and respect for the food and drink. I think all the dishes are reasonably priced and well worth it.

There were 6 of us for MOthers Day.
5 pastas were not al dente, they were undercooked.
4 pastas were oversalted.
We requested penne and tomato sauce for my 3 yr old and we asked for it with the appetizers. Instead, we received spaghetti 10 minutes after all the other pastas were received.
My son could not eat the meal as the salt content was higher than anything I have ever tasted to the point that it was removed from the bill.
The main courses were good.
I have never been this disappointed in a restaurant
Love this Place. I keep going back and it keeps getting better and better. The Gnocchi melts in my mouth. Good pasta in general. Great everything. Wine, staff, desserts, coffee.......Very comfortable as well.
Great Overall Value. The service was professional if somewhat slow, though we didn't mind since it is such a welcoming place to have dinner. The waiter recommended a satisfying wine and we enjoyed our food immensely. Have the kitchen split as an appetizer its signature cheese and linguini pasta that is curled in a large round cheese bowl that look like a giant candle right at your table.
A real italian restaurant in the east village. One of the best meal I have ever had. The food here is more than Italian peasant's food, so if you are not willing to experiment or are expecting simple, common Italian food, this may not be your place. If that does not bother you, this is definitely a place to go. The food is sensational and the entire experience was great!
BEST PASTA IN NYC.
This place is truly a gem. I went with my friends a couple of days ago and we had a great experience. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated right away even though the place was packed. The food was AMAZING and the atmosphere was great.
The food at Cacio e pepe it's really a step above all the italian restaurants in the east village. Two thumbs up!!
