Avoid Bua. Strange place.. I live in the area and the place is a great disapointment. Lots of under aged people on weekends, while weekdays it has a very basic crowd from the sticks. I feel that there is something strange going on behind the scenes. Watch out.

Cool spot. I like Bua. The atmosphere is comfortable and the happy hour specials are more than reasonable. Definitely a good neighborhood spot.

Great staff, great vibe, good time. Go on a weeknight when it's not as crowded... bring a date or meet some new people. Love this place. Lots of memories there. Thanks Irish boys!

Editorial Review. Not your typical Irish pub ("bua" means "victory" in Gaelic), this low-key, exposed brick bar captures the neighborhood with a polished, romantic appeal.

a very special place. I dont typically review bars but felt the need after visiting this very special place. i stumbled accross bua a few weeks ago as i was wondering around the east village, and i'm so glad that i found this little gem. i dropped in for a beer late in the afternoon and ended up staying there for the evening. this bar is total bliss. cute friendly staff chatted to me with a genuine interest in my life, and served me up some great drinks. cool tunes hummed in the background as friendly regulars poped in and out to grab a drink and say hello. the decor is amazing... candles in every little nook about the bar, exposed brick walls and a warm and welcoming vibe make this place just right. bua i was told is the gaelic word for victory... a very fitting name for this treasure of a bar. take it from me - make this place your regular. it's an absolute gem.

Cool venue. Went late on a Thursday night and had an awesome time. The reviews are true - very friendly place, decent 'craic'.

Fabulous. I hadn't been to 122 St. Mark's since Jeff Buckley was clubbing around the Lower East Side and Bua was Sin-e. But my recent visit here reminded me warmly of those amazing times. Of course, more than a few changes have been made since that time, but all good ones, and they create a cozy atmosphere. I wasn't lucky enough to come when anyone was playing music, which I hear they do at times, but I can definitely see how this place would be ideal for that. It's small and cozy and the bartender was sweet and friendly. I really had a great experience. It's a shame Jeff isn't here today to play here. Anyway, it's a fabulous bar, you should definitely take a look. I live in New York but it was such an adorable place I felt the need to take pictures! :) Try it!

Great Place Period. I've been wetting my whistle here for the past year or so and I this place is among my favorites. Great (although limited) beer selection, good happy hour prices, excellent Irish bartenders, and low light. Not too many places in the city that provide a laidback atmosphere and play indie rock. A great place for a small group looking to drink before hitting up a more trendy scene or great for a happy hour drink. Of course an occasional tourist will come by - this is NY. What do you expect?

great neighboorhood bar. low key, good drinks, great outside area... Just a nice, normal local bar in the midst of so many hipster, trendy east village bars...

Great find. Friend who lives above this place brought me here. Hadn't been in it since days when it used to be that pricey wierd winebar. It is a great bar now. Laid back, not too loud music, nice people at bar. Felt like everyone knew each other. Very inviting. love the candle-light and brick walls. Got drunk on the Sangria..! Will be back
