Not the cut I expected but staff was nice and service great. April 2012:

At first, I was not very happy with my haircut at “At Salon,” but as it grew out, I began to like it more. By reading others’ positive reviews on this site, it seems that my initial experience was an exception.

After I wrote a critical review on this site, the owner of the salon called me, apologized, and offered me a free service. I appreciated her call, and I later received a free facial. It was relaxing, gentle, and cleansing.

Everyone I spoke to there, from the receptionist to the woman who did my facial, was very polite and friendly, both times I went. I believe the staff and owner of At Salon care deeply about customer service.

The BEST!!!. I moved to NYC from Chicago 5 years ago. I was terrified about finding a new place to get my hair done. I went online, read review after review, and finally picked a salon. Fortunately, I picked At Salon. They are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

Luda is my colorist and she is truly the best. She is an absolute perfectionist. She has done Japanese straightening for me, KeraSmooth treatment, highlights, and she even corrected my color on the first visit. I didn't even know my color was "broken"... but after she was done, I could see such an improvement. It was unbelievable. I love going to At Salon. I go every three weeks.

I had to add this review after seeing doriprincess' review about how she recommends finding a colorist elsewhere. Don't go anywhere else. As I said, Luda is a perfectionist and will do her best to inform clients but in the end, it is their choice on what color to go with. Sometimes I want to try something new too, instead of just covering the grays, and Luda is always on top of it. She cautions me if I choose a color that might not be just right and always steers me in the right direction. I trust her COMPLETELY. Luda is a great person and is meticulous about her work. * Note to doriprincess -- you should really try her again... :-)

Venera does my cut and blow dry. She is also amazing! For 4 years, I kept my hair long and kept telling her, "Just trim the ends...", which she did. Then I had that moment that many of us know all too well and I told her, "Cut it all off, I don't know exactly what I want but I trust you." She did a great job and of course, I kept going a little shorter each time as I got used to the new length. She was always patient and wonderful. I sleep when she dries my hair. I know she will do it right and it's so relaxing. Highly recommend her and Luda!

Getting an appointment is a breeze. Maya is always so helpful. Sam, the owner, is terrific. He has made so many changes to the salon over the years. He's always adding things like free wi-fi, handmade jewelry for sale, more products. It is a great place and there's no question that everyone there takes great pride in their work.

You will NOT be disappointed with the crew at At Salon. I actually had to go back to Chicago for several months last year and I missed them terribly! I am back in NYC now and so happy to see them regularly again.

Customer service= 5 stars; Results = 2 1/2 stars. Let me preface this review by saying that I am a very first timer when it comes to getting my hair colored so there may be things that happen to everyone that are unavoidable. With that said, I got my hair colored At Salon and Beyond by Luba, and though she was very nice and squeezed me in for appointment and was patient with all of my questions, the end result is not what I was hoping for.

Also, let me say that the customer service here is fantastic. The woman at the front desk found me and a friend an appointment on a Friday night that same day and was very helpful and nice. Luba was attentive and seemed to know exactly what I needed (a demi-permenant color) right away and helped me pick one out. The person that cut my hair, Shawn, was nice and though I really just needed a quick trip, blew my hair out beautifully. They offer treats and coffee and a discount for 1st timers.

But...I chose a color that was quite vibrant (that is my fault) because it was hard to tell with the little samples that it would be SO red. To Luba's credit, she did recommend a less bright color but didn't really explain that the color on my head would be so different from the sample. Also, I really wanted an auburn color, and what I got was that weird purplish-red that can only be described as bright burgundy that you see older ladies use. Plus they said that there wasn't really anything they could do that day about the dye that was on my scalp and around the crown of my hair but that it would wash away with 1 shampoo. I left feeling uncomfortable that I had a line around my hairline of red but thought that it would better the next day. 5 shampoos later (one even at another salon) the line is still there and my scalp is still conspicuously dyed red.

All in all, I would get my haircut again there since the customer service was so great and the haircut is nice (not really anything special, but pretty good), but I think I'll shop around for a different colorist.

Better late than never!. The Kera-Smooth Treatment for my hair was the absolute best purchase I have made so far this year! The salon color specialist Luda had advised me to get the treatment at the beginning of the summer. Although I wish I had listened to her sooner, two months after the treatment, I still have perfectly smooth and frizz free locks. I would most definately recommend the Kera-Smooth treatment.

Thank you Luda, not only for your amazing colorist skills, but for your very wise and helpful consultation.

Fantastic Salon!. I was new in town and I heard a few good reviews about this salon from some colleagues. And they were right! The staff at this salon were very professional and friendly. The salon offers a wide range of hair products (for those of us who simply don't have the time to shop around), and they offer every service one can possibly wish for. I got a haircut and color, and both professionals really listened to my needs and provided a consultation. I would have to recommend their colorist Luda- she is absolutely fantastic and performs her job immaculately. When I left the salon, she had me feeling 10 years younger, with a fresh head of highlights and beautiful shiny healthy hair. Next time I'm in town, I will be making an appointment with her for sure.

Every Body Will Like This Salon. I tried many services in @Salon and really I cannot say anything but it is a very good beauty salon in my area upper west side of Manhattan. The professional service, customer service are outstanding and the discount for first time, second time and their special discount for some services and occasion are unbeatable in any other place I did try in the past, so in other word it is a value service and cost. I think everybody will like this place as I do.

Excellent Service True MORE For Less. I’ve been looking for a beauty salon with high quality service and moderate pricing for years since I moved to NYC 12 years ago. After many tries finally I discovered At Salon and Beyond when it opened about 6 years ago. I’ve been using its services for more than 5 years now and I am very loyal to the awesome team who works there and it will be unfair to mention any name because I could forget one and all of them are nice professional and customer service oriented, starting from the receptionist, assistants, hairdressers, colorists, manicurist, and esthetician all are nice and act very professionally with excellent attitude. The owner is very active in managing his business and you will find him around most of the time following with each concept and details if you will notice, he asked me to write a review about his salon if my time allow because he understand how it is sometime inconvenient for many people to find extra time even to check their emails but because he is so nice and polite I had to find the time to write this review. And I think he does this with most of his clients may be all of them and that is show how keen he is in promoting and keeping his business on the top of excellence and proficiency compare to a lot of other beauty salons.

I am happy with the services and the prices and I always feel good when I am at the salon with their professional service and excellent customer service besides their unbelievable hospitality in offering food, snacks, desserts, drinks and more.

This place is better than a lot of other places I tried and I hope that they will be rewarded for their ultimate services by attracting more and more clients and improve their success in this bad economy. Good luck everybody. Regards

My Beauty Salon Forever. I have been a client in At Salon for more than 4 years and the services and customers service are very impressing, every body is so nice I saw a lot of people working there within the years and I didn't find one you can tell that he or she is not nice and professional.

I should write about the salon long time ago but because everybody is busy and no time to have a minute to do anything till the owner ask me to write something about the salon if I am happy with the service and I promised him I will do. I had tried most of the services at the salon from hair cut, color, skincare, facial, waxing to makeup and massage even the Japanese Straightening I tried and with full confidence I am saying that they were outstanding and fantastic services I enjoyed all of them and the team over there is very skillful and extra professional. So good luck to them and hopefully they stay like that and good luck for you in trying their services and enjoy what I enjoyed. Thanks
