What People Are Saying About The Hanger

In Short – Dressing up comes naturally at this bar, where vintage finds like a fur jacket hang next to duds by designers such as LonaD. Jeans, T-shirts, even party dresses line one side; on the other, the bar. In the back, mismatched couches and chairs reflect the warm homey atmosphere, and invite patrons to stay a while. Vintage Dior fashion photos from the '40s and antique mirrors add flair to red walls and the dark panelling.
Editor's Tips
- What to Drink:
- The Staten Island Iced Tea, a blend of vodka, iced tea and lime juice, goes for just $3. If you're really broke, PBRs are $2 all day. For those living the high life, there's flights of scotch or whiskey ($12-$15).
- Save Money:
- Happy hour runs 4pm-9pm daily, with $2 well drinks and $1 off all top-shelf mixes.
- The Extras:
- You'll find accessories and shoes at the back of the store.
Total Dive, Kinda Smells
by nycfashiongirl
this is a total dive bar, stinks of old alcohol. feels like a mixed crowd of sad hipster wannabes and jersey girls on the weekends. the description above makes it seem waaaay more chic than it really is, but it's pretty disappointing.
Chill bar, awful bar tender
by majorshake
Met up with a couple of friends there Saturday night on 6/7/08 and thought it was a pretty cool find. Good music and atmosphere. However, the bartender was a complete a-hole; he was purposefully ignoring customers (especially minorities) and taking forever to make and serve drinks, and the place wasn't even crowded. He was making crappy drinks too. I ordered a Long Island hoping that it would be loaded so I wouldn't have to go back to the bar for a while and it tasted like sweet tea. Don't even think there was any booze in it. Other patrons at the bar that we chatted with were also complaining about him. The manager was also lousy. I walked by him to make a call outside, literally 3 ft away from him, and when I went to go back in he asked me for ID? Service and management completely ruined what could have been a cool bar.
- Pros: Music, Atmosphere
- Cons: Bartender, Service, Management, Drinks
Great little spot in E.Village
by knapsackfunk
This was a great little find in the East Village. The bartenders are nice. The crowd is cool. But best of all there are tons of little coves & couches in the back where you can get some intimacy with your friends.
- Pros: Good scene, Couches!, Good bartenders
SWEET
by beanbagchair
I went to this place the other night and was totally surprised at how awesome it was in the midst of the ever lamer east village scene. The atmosphere is completely friendly, awesome, hot crowd, and and UNBELIEVABLE jukebox. I'll be there again soon...
- Pros: cool decor, candy dish, boggle at the bar!
