In Short
It seems as if everybody's going for the same roster of A-list celebrities, fashion plates, and people with money to burn. To compete, this lounge promises patrons access to Mercedes S500s, a handpicked wine list, inventive cocktails, plus extravagant munchies of caviar and foie gras. The basement space has a main bar, two lounges and a VIP room. A mix of eclectic European music sets the soundtrack for decadence.

First time here last Sat, had a great time! I've heard a lot of this place but was always lazy to go there. (A bit out of the way) I was with a couple of girlfriends and the DJ was great one of the best I've heard. (He should be at the top clubs) I don't know what the previous poster was talking about. Must be a different DJ. The decor is really nice and the staff was great. 5 stars for the DJ and 3 1/2 for the venue itself. (The ceilings are a bit low and the sound system isn't great)
Pros: The DJ, the decor, the staff.
Cons: The location, low ceilings, sound system.

So, I went to 49 Grove on Saturday, March 22, 2008. I got there with my friends around 10:30-11:00pm and there was already a line forming. Surprisingly, the doorman was very plesant... considering that mostly all other doormen at trendy bar/lounges in the city are notorious for being complete jerks! The place looked like it wasn't even half-filled when we arrived but as the night went on, about an hour later, the place filled up and the party continued until we had to leave... at 4am (it was a long night LOL). The music was great and I was definately feelin the vibe. I'm from Florida, so i'm not used to paying $10 dollars for a drink....BUT this venue certainly does NOT rip you off on the liquor haha! Aside from pricey drinks, it was a great night.
Pros: great vibe
Cons: bring your wallet
