What's Phat? How 'bout THE SKINnY? Downtown's newest bar/lounge incarnation. Towering 20'ceilings emphasize the sleak narrow bar + couch areas, illuminated by hovering space age lighting, allows patrons in the private mezzanine party room and the bar below to reflect on this establishments namesake as well as their normal perception of the proverbial "Happy Hour" as drink prices here define reasonable (aka The Cheap). Friendly and unpretentious barstaff will help make this the new destination night spot for locals + party goers alike.

In Short
Banquettes greet guests of the narrow, low-lit space, with a bar leading to further seating in the rear. On weekends, DJs entertain the crowd with rock, funk, '80s and a little old-school hip-hop. A rotating pool of local artists' work hangs on the red walls. The entire scene can be observed from a small balcony. Drinks are simple, with domestic and imported bottled beer and well cocktails coming in at less than $5.
Hits: Once you're on that balcony, the bar feels far, far away.
Misses: Cocktails are served in plastic cups--which is either really awful or really great, depending on what you're looking for.

Came here on vacation just sippin on drinks. They do a good job making traditional drinks like a long island or a vodka martini, but they can do the not so traditional stuff too. I wouldnt come here again with my friends, but i'd hang here on vaca.

I threw a party there last night and the staff was very attentive to our needs.. the bottle prices were great, hundreds cheaper than other places in Manhattan. The manager accomodated our crazy requests, and the bartender was great (didnt catch her name), the bouncers were friendly (which is RARE). The decor was nothing to speak of, the crowd was a little obnoxious (rowdy college-aged drunk girls bumping into you) but that's not Skinny's fault of course. The DJ was annoying, we were spending $$ and requested a few songs for our party, but he looked at us like we were crazy (very "how dare you question my song choices, you're not possibly cooler than me" kind of way)... I didn't get his name either. Um, I wouldn't recommend you go there expecting an all nighter at some great lounge in the city, next time I'd probably stop in for cheap drinks and then keep it moving... Don't dress up, and don't take anyone older than 30 - they won't be all that thrilled with the crowd...

Fun Fact:
While you're waiting for you drink, look up at the wall beneath the DJ booth and see if you can identify the cult movie--classics like "16 Candles" play on loop all night on a large projector screen.
