Editorial Review for Dream Hotel – by Linda Harel

The Scene
The surreal dream theme behind Vikram Chatwal's newest hotel explains the oddities that appear everywhere. In the golden-lit lobby, a copper statue of Catherine the Great, Neptune and Madonna with child sits surrounded by mismatched armchairs. Nearby, a spherical aquarium runs from the ceiling, through the glossy black floor and into Subconscious, the cave-like underground lounge. Two other lounges include the 1950s French Riviera-inspired Ava, which hovers above the city with a view of Times Square, and the brightly striped lobby-level Dream Lounge.

The Details
The 220 blue-lit rooms are ideal for floating off to sleep. Fluffy beds are made with ultra-plush feather duvets and 300-count Egyptian cotton sheets. Comfy Kashwere robes in closets and Molton Brown toiletries in bathrooms make waking up feel cozy, too. Rooms are equipped with wall-mounted plasma televisions, digital cable, high-speed broadband Internet access and fully stocked mini-bars.

Ok so my husband and I and another couple went to the rooftop lounge at Dream Hotel for drinks after seeing the tree/5th avenue. The martinis were GREAT. You'll pay $$ for them but they get the job done. I also brought my own box of Godiva chocolates to share and our server didn't even flinch at it. The music was a tad loud so it made talking and lounging hard but that could have been the DJ that night. This is a hot little spot for a post date drink or to meet a date that you aren't ready to do dinner with. It's got a nice romantic feel to it. I'm curious to stay at the hotel. Perhaps soon...

I have never stayed in the hotel before, but the roof-top bar is great! It has an equisite view of NYC and lots of creative drinks and a soothing atmosphere.

Pros: Roof-top bar

Cons: $$$$$

Nothing is too random to appear in a dream, or in hotelier Vikram Chatwal's latest creation.  See the full editorial review.
