…
alright. I did enjoy my night out over there; music was fine, the service and drinks were not bad at all. Really nice atmosphere. We were a bit skeptical regarding the door policy though..the first time we went there the line was huge, it took us almost an hour to get into the club. The second time we were 9people and we booked a Limo night out package for like $160 , for 1h limo tour and admission in the club skipping the line (limotournyc) that was a pretty good deal! Anyway I’ll definitely go back there!
Not A Good Place. This place is not that great long lines, the door staff won't let you in unless they know you, very rude . The music is alrite, the space inside is tight...I really thought it would be better that what I've seen. They hype it up like its a big happening spot but it really is not. Its not really clean inside and it like a hole in the wall....
???????????. interesting crowd, pain in the ass door staff but the music was pretty good. maybe I will go here again if I can get in one more time?????
This PLace Suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. This place suck, there is always no space in this lounge, the security never let you in, the bouncer at the door steals money from women because he take 2500 from my sister and it going on almost a year still she didn't get it from him...How is a place that is suppose so hot hire a bouncer that steals from women that he meets there. I want there a few times and I advise women do not go to this lounge is sucks big time and they charge a arm and leg for drinks, when the lounge across the street charge alot cheaper and friendly staff. Also bouncers that do not steal your money......
Danced All Night.
I was looking for a club to go downtown and I checked my iPhone for reviews and came across Sutra. It was already midnight, so I figured what the hell.
My BFF, Michelle was kinda tired, but I dragged her along anyway. Let me tell you this place is hot. The DJ mixes the best hip hop and club ever. I danced so hard, my feet started to hurt and then I took my shoes off and danced in stockings. Cool college guys. Fun place.
Favourite club.
I have been going here every weekend for quite some time for these reasons...
- Guaranteed great tunes - I'm a big music fan and you can count on there being good music most nights of the week- mostly hip hop / party classics
- Love the venue- it's cosy, dimly lit, and pretty mirrored mosaics on the walls, and golden buddha features
- Friendly, fun, down to earth vibe. That pretty much says it all.
WHEN YOU'RE GOOD... YOU'RE GOOD!.
I'm not quite sure what "contraire" is talking about... But au contraire my friend... Sutra has been a staple go-to spot for me and my orderly party people for months now! From the great music you refer to as noise to the service (always courteous), Sutra has consistently been reliable. For the sake of fun and stress-relief at the end of a long day of work, outlets such as Sutra are a valuable necessity in any neighborhood.
It's a fact that bars aren't for everyone. But, please don't angrily lash out with blatant personal vendettas in a stiff, dry, and, dare I say, disgusting effort to build a case against all law-abiding bars in the city.
Now that that's out of the way... I'll go back to planning my next Sutra gathering.
Thank you and good night.
They do their business at their neighbor's expense. We who are most well acquainted with this god-awful place are not patrons but those nearby who are victimized by their business practices. They cannot run a club, it seems, without making hundreds of people suffer. The noise, which goes on till closing, is unbearable. Their patrons, drunk and disorderly, fill the street, because they do not understand that it is not good business to liquor up people too violent and drunk already. It is disgusting that any business in this city should operate at the expense of the neighborhood in which they are situated. Too often it has been the epicenter of disturbance and violence. This is not a viable business. It is a dangerous nuisance.
Reservation is a Rip Off!.
I recently went to the Sutra Lounge to celebrate my husband's birthday and "Reserved" a table space for him and a few of his friends. While my husband tried to find parking, I had no problem entering the club but my husband and his friends had a really hard time entering. We were told by an Asian man at the door that he would show me to the reserved area and when my husband arrives he would escort them in. When my husband got to the door, a very unprofessional black bouncer told him that everyone had reservations here and that he needed to go to the back of the line and wait like everyone else. My husband asked him "if everyone has a reservation, what makes the club so special". After arguing back and forth with this man, I received help from a blond waitress who asked the Asian man to please let my husband and friends come to our reserved area.
Upon entering the lounge, it was hot, stuffy and the steam maker had a foul smell. The so called "Reserved" area had other people sitting there already which the waitress had to make them leave. We were given a very limited list of bottled drinks, an ice bucket and some cheap plastic cups. We had barely any room to dance....needless to say, we made the best of a cheap experience. The space is not worth paying over $200 and there was nothing special about the experience here. The music was ok and I believe the DJ is a little over rated. I advise that if you go to the Sutra Lounge, please don't reserve and just pay the door fee...you will have the same experience and keep more money in your pocket!
We are sad that you a difficult experience at Sutra. To clarify, the reason why your boyfriend was told that everyone on line has a reservation is because on Saturdays Sutra is reservation only for the first part of the evening. Thats for tables service and general admission. The reason it is benefical is because we do not take any walk up patrons without reservations to make sure all reserved parties and their friends get in. Sometimes if a line forms people just have to wait a moment while we check ID's and direct ppl to thier area. There is no reason why your boyfriend should have had any difficulties with any of our employees and though I cant explain it, we do apologize. Saturday nights in Manhattan can be so busy and we do our best to satisfy everyone. I hope you can give us another opportunity to host you again in the future. All the best
