Editorial Review for 151 – by Riva Froymovich
In Short
A small dark room of bead curtains and velvet cushions mocks the scene from a 1970s basement apartment. Hazy candlelight reflects against brown and gold wallpaper and wall mirrors, setting the mood for groups squeezing onto couches in the rear as well as duos canoodling at tables. Bartenders supply the booze--during happy hour and well into the witching hours--as well as the beats by bringing their turntablist friends to spin nighttime sets of rock.

This place is sh t. Its full of pillow biters and the floor is sticky. Plus there's a girl lurking in there (Allison..?) who pesters you for favours in exchange for cr@ck. Avoid at all costs.

Maybe its the candles, or the casual vibe, or perhaps even the double huge bathrooms so there's almost never a wait. I don't know, i really like this simple place. I will say it tends to get pretty local--everyone always seems to know everyone else late at night and that can make you feel a little weird and almost apologetic cause you aren't cool enough to live on the block or something. Whatever, I smile and just drink more. Then catch my damn cab to Brooklyn...
