Editorial Review for Cheap Shots – by Erin Behan
In Short
This divey neighborhood bar is true to its name, serving up cheap shots of kamikazes, Red-Headed Sluts and Coco Puffs. Those who prefer suds to shots find equally cheap pints and pitchers. The amenities--air hockey, an MP3 jukebox, Golden Tee, darts, Big Buck Hunter, Monopoly--attract a more adult crowd during the day and a much younger student set at night. The plasma screen offerings rotate wildly between movies, sports and the news.

The only positive things about this place is the the drink prices are reasonable and that it's definitely a dive bar. Otherwise, the jukebox has a very poor selection of mostly 80's pop music. The bartender is some big, ugly fat guy who seemed to be bored out of his mind and just sat in this stool most of the time behind the bar. The patrons seemed very young and many definitely didn't even seem old enough to drink yet. I don't recommend this place unless you're just looking for a quick, cheap beer before going home. There are plenty of much better dive bars in the area including Coyote Ugly and Doc Holidays.
Pros: It is a dive bar with reasonable priced drinks
Cons: poor jukebox selection, lazy bartender, underaged patrons

I've never taken the time to write a negative review, but I've never had such a terrible experience as I did at this sorry excuse for a bar. The bartender didn't see that I had already put his tip down, and when I walked away with my drinks he yelled at me to leave a tip, saying he wouldn't serve me if I didn't tip him. When I told him I already put the tip on the bar, he didn't seem to believe me. Twenty minutes later, the same bartender turns off the music and yells to the whole bar, "People have to leave tips, and the tips have to be appropriate." I'm sorry if this guy was getting gipped, but perhaps it is in reaction to what a crappy bartender he is. In all my years of going to bars in the city, I've never had a bartender question a tip. This is the best help this bar can find for a Saturday night? There were indeed plenty of cheap shots; unfortunately they were of the verbal abuse variety, rather than something more potable.
Pros: PBR
Cons: douche behind the bar
