Editorial Review for 212 – by Katie Heffernan

In Short
At this Upper East Side bar and restaurant, it's both the dinner and drinks that reel in the well-heeled clientele. Art deco style, skylights and a streetside patio set the gabby who's-who scene of posh Europeans and young Manhattan singles. A New American menu complements the upscale bistro, as do over 100 international vodkas, as many wines and a few frozen cocktails served by bartenders in slinky blue dresses.

I visited 212 last week end while visiting some friends in the city. This was their 3rd visit and my first time . We walked in with no reservation and they were very good to work around their reservation to accomodate us. The service was great. The food was excellent and every dishes at our table of 6 were incredible. The pizzetta with proscuttio, brie and fresh figues, as well as all the tuna tartare and salmon tartare were particularly amazing....and inexpensive. Plus the place is trendy!

Pros: fun and good

I was taken on a date to 212 which was a great pick. Was served by a nice tall waiter who gave us great attention. The food was excellent. We shared a few appetizers, great shrimp popcorn, mozzarella and tuna tartare. I also had a Tuna Nicois dish was amazingly done. We wanted to share a dessert and the waiter recommended the nutella crepes with dulce de leche ice cream which was incredible.
