Fantastic Experience - Gorgeous Dress
by ClaireSmithNY
I was recommended to go to Lara Helene by several friends (1 had gotten her bridal gown there, 1 had met the designer at a NYC social event and 1 had had a couture evening gown created there) who all said that the selection, quality, craftmanship and customer service at Lara Helene are above and beyond the competition. I can only say that my friends were right. I LOVED the choices in the store. Lara was "chic" (as the bitter girl below remarks) to a tee and her sense of style really made me feel comfortable in my choices, as I had no idea what I was looking for. I loved the process of getting a muslin fitting and as many further dress fittings as I needed (nerves made me drop and lose 5 pounds every 2 weeks!), which my Austrian mother told me that you only get in a couture house. Apparently, most other wedding dress shops charge you for fittings and only allow 1 or 2. In fact, Lara Helene was so accomodating that when I wanted to make a last minute change and add more beading to the hemline, they were willing to take care of it with no complaints or fuss. The end product was unbelievable and I have never felt so beautiful in my life! My husband, friends and family all said that it was the most incredible dress they had ever seen and I know that I can recommend Lara Helene to my friends in the future. I had my dream wedding and my dream dress.
- Pros: Amazing selection and stunning product
- Cons: Prices are not recession-friendly
MUCH less than perfect

The construction of my dress was terrible. People commented. It was a lovely strapless gown that within the first 30 minutes of wearing I noticed that I had to keep pulling it up. The whole thing started to give and the bodice would not hold up. I had a fitting 2 days prior so it was not a weight loss issue. It was a poor construction problem. It was made without integrity. Right before the ceremony my bridesmaids had to pin the top. The quality of the individual fabrics and materials are excellent, but the end product is certainly NOT what a $4000+ gown should be. Mine did not hold its shape and lets say everyone at the wedding had a glimpse of a bride that was quite less than Lara's favorite four letter word "chic". Lara Helene are not proven designers. If you want real couture go to Bergdorf Goodman or some other Madison Ave shop. Lara Helene is not the place to buy! Be warned. You can certainly do better. I was not going to say anything, but when I saw some of the wedding pictures I cried. The worst part was that when I finally went back to let them know the severe problem I had with the dress the only response I got was "I will let production know". No apologies, no I'm sorry, no regret. But what can you expect.....she already had her money!
- Pros: space, location
- Cons: poor construction, lacks integrity
Incredible service and product if you can afford it

Lara was kind, honest, and knows her stuff when it comes to the construction and fit of couture wedding gowns. Alterations are not included in the cost of the mostly $4,000+ gowns, but if you've got the budget, this is the place to go! Fabrics are incredible, the cuts of the gowns are amazing, and the salon could not be nicer looking.
- Pros: Wonderful service, gorgeous gowns
- Cons: Doesn't fit into the average bride's budget
