“The lamb dishes are teriffic and even the deserts are interesting.”
“Very nice little restaurant with Turkish food and wines.”
“the chef orhan made us this fantastic steak”
“The only bad thing is that they don't have a lunch menu, so a cheap dinner will be an expensive lunch, depending on what time of day you go there.”
“I'm Turkish and with my knowledge Sip Sak is a great restaurant for everybody.”
“can't tell if the pain in my stomach is imagined or real; either way, despite the excellent stuffed cabbage, it soured my experience and I will not go back there again.”
“Just don't expect the formal 2 hour dinner/5 star restaurant treatment, though you wouldn't be able to tell (and shouldn't care) by the delicious food and good portions.”
“As long as you are having the lamb with okura, the food can be very good for the price.”
great food! nice stylish casual or casual stylish, recommended!
be ware of this place!!. My boyfriend enjoyed brunch and dessert here so we decided to give dinner a try tonight. The staff was definitely on a mission to sell sell sell. First, our waiter recommended us to get the wine that was $58 a bottle without mentioning that they didn't sell it in glasses. Being a super detail oriented person that I am, I was able to see through that trick and decided to go with the wine that was sold by glass ($9). When the waiter noticed that we were having trouble choosing an appetizer, he suggested to make a sampler for us, again without telling us the price. We assumed that it would be no more than the price of a main course, but we were wrong. It came out to be $32. We ordered the lamb chops, which were 75% lamb fat, on a sale of 10 I would give it a 4. For dessert we had some chocolate cake and almond pudding, those were fine. When we got the bill, I was very upset to hear that the appetizer costs us $32. Why didn't they disclose this price in the beginning? Two waiters came over saying to us that it costs $14 for each appetizer. But still, I've eaten in over 50 restaurants in Manhattan, and never heard of a SAMPLER that would cost double the price of an entree. I called the manager's attention, which only brought her to tell me in my face: "you should ask the price." Wow, what a load of bull. Please do me a favor sip sak, treat your customer with respect, hire professional staff, don't try to trick people into buying things. I hope that's not the Turkish style!
The rudest and the most unprofessional business owner in NYC. Oh my God what a bad experience we had! The food was okay but the owner was the rudest and worse business owner we had ever seen! He was cursing his staff in front of everyone and treating them like animals. He was very rude to his customers and had no manners what so ever.Go to Akdeniz Turkish Restaurant or A La Turka if you'd like to eat real good Turkish Food. WE WOULD NEVER GO THERE AND WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANY OF OUR FAMILY OR FRIENDS!
Best place to take out from. They deliver excellent food at good portions for a reasonable price! The lamb dishes are great and the sauce is perfectly rich. Also the Cabbage rolls are awesome. It comes with good amounts of pita and rice to soak up all of the good juices. It was the only thing my girlfriend and I ordered in when we live in Midtown East.
Amazing octopus. Food at Sip Sak gets better and better . The place looks gorgeous and the food is to die for!! The octopus is arguably the best in town!! I had THE perfect dinner last week .. We had the Octopus and Hummus followed by the main course i chose the lamb chops while my husband had the mousaka !! We were so impressed that we will definitely go back for our anniversary !!
Awesome. y far, the best hummus
Loved it for lunch, can wait to try dinner.
I've only been to Sip Sak for lunch. I had the green salad. They have a great wine list which is almost enough to make any bad meal good. Don't get me wrong I don't think my meal at Sip Sak was bad. I also had the steak sandwich which was excellent. I definitely need to go back for dinner.
Home sweet home. Turkish food in this restaurant tastes like my mother's cooking. I feel an effort and energy to please every customer. Every time I am in there I feel like I'm not a customer but a part of the Sip Sak family. Entertaining is done by the owner is always a funny surprise. Don't forget New York is a show town. For as little as $25 where can you can find good food and a good show!
Good food- good service-fun. Best service; never have to wait. I live close and go frequently. Have tried almost everything on the menu and never been disappointed. My favorites are the celery root-exquisite and the moussaka. The lamb dishes are teriffic and even the deserts are interesting. Tried the cooked squash desert and am addicted. When I enter the restaurant's newly renovated decor, i feel like I am in a comfortable european style bistro.
Special place for special people.
I know the place very well because I worked long time in the establishment. Little MsPiggy, forget you waited 10 minutes for the server at Sip Sak they throw you out in 10 minutes and they make sure that you enjoyed your desert aswell. So, I find your comments just funny.
"The great states" your comments are even funnier... This restaurant never had goat dishes either in the menu or daily specials. Chef uses only an american lamb that doesn't have no heavy taste which you can describe. I wonder how can a man live like a man to sabotage other men's business. I'm Turkish and with my knowledge Sip Sak is a great restaurant for everybody.
