The Scene
The airy room feels welcoming with its pressed tin ceiling, white subway tiles and open seating arrangement of booths and tables. A huge Coca-Cola sign dominates the bar, and cute waiters whisk plates of 'cue across the dining room and to the sidewalk patio. A mix of Chelsea boys, West Village families and casual dates all enjoy the low-key environs.
The Food
A starter of the addictive Vidalia onion rings makes a great opener, although it's served with too little creamy Maytag blue cheese dip. Oysters, either as a starter or on the po'boy sandwich, are heavily breaded, deep-fried and served with garlic aioli. The tender ribs, smoked with hickory, apple and cherry woods, do the job, but some may take issue with their mild flavor, also present in the pulled Carolina pork. A side of cheesy, creamy mac and cheese, is comfort food fare at its best.

Wife and i dined here and had the onion rings, beef ribs with collard greens and pulled pork with mac and cheese. The onion rings were great as was the dipping sauce, the ribs and bbq were good (pork came pre sauced which we hate but it was still good) and the mac and cheese was very good. Only disappointment ws the collard greens which needed more flavor. We also got drinks which were strong and cheep, probably not the best mixed but for the price they had a good kick. The price is the big winner here. It's ribs were better than pricier places like blue smoke and the pulled pork was on par with other places and it is the same price range as texas bbq (and MUCH better).

Visited Bone Lick Park the other day... the collard greens were amazing... everything else was so-so (be prepared for a touch of $ sticker shock). I was shocked by how great the Red Velvet Cake was... super-tall, super-moist, not too sweet. The frosting clearly was made with butter and cream cheese and was heavily studded with chopped pecans. The slice was large enough to share (and then some). I ordered the Pecan Pie (which was a bit on the sad side) and ended up eating practically all of my dates' dessert. Will visit again, for the drinks (nice and strong, if you get the "right" bartender) and the def. for the Red Velvet Cake...

While it took a little while for the waitress to discover we were sitting at one of her tables, the service was decent after that. All 4 of us liked the food, and portions were big. It seemed a touch overpriced, but if any of us had taken advantage of the all-you-can drink bloody mary's, momosa's, etc. it would have been just right! I appreciated th real maple syrup served with the pancakes.
